- I did read somewhere that you can get some subscription thingie that works with it, but it seemed quite pricey. Can't remember the details.
Main problem with TomTom's European maps is that they are country (or region) based - i.e. they stop at the border of that country or region. You cannot plan a route across different regions/countries! Nor can you save a planned route to flash memory/disk for later recall whilst travelling.
So to plan a journey from UK, through France, Benelux, and into Germany, you would need to stop and plan four routes as you drive. In each case, you would need to change/load in that country/region's maps. So get a very large flash storage card if you're touring throughout Europe! The maps only cover Western/Northern Europe, so not Greece or ex-Eastern-Bloc countries.
By the way, don't confuse the "Maps of Western Europe for TomTom Navigator v.2" with "TomTom's Europe CityMaps". The later is more intended for on-foot city exploring.
There is a European "Route Planner" that appears to have much less detail, but apparently does not have the cross-region/country problem.
I have an unregistered/unused copy of TT's Europe CityMaps for sale if anyone is interested
