Tomtom 2 Navigator is by far the best software avilable. http://www.tomtom.com/

There are a number of bundled packages on the market which contain everything you need if you have a look around. You'll need a 128mb memory card which will hold maps for the whole of the UK (excluding Ireland) although you can install smaller maps if you wish. I found it worthwhile to have a good look at the mounting options available for the handheld before deciding which one, as that can be tricky depending on the layout of your car. The other choice is whether or not to go for a wired or Bluetooth version which depends on the capabilities of your handheld obviously.

Here's my Bluetooth set-up.

I find the Ipaq is good for about 3 or 4 hours continuous use on battery which is enough for most trips although I can run it off power from the cig socket adapter if I need too. The black and white gizmo on top of the dash is the Bluetooth GPS receiver which is good for about 8 hours on battery. Again - I can run it from a power socket. The black thing at lower left is a Bluetooth device which amplifies the voice prompts from Tomtom2 and also from my mobile when in handsfree mode.

Hi Tonky,
Is that the vent mount your using?
My friend uses the Phone thing organiser, can't remember what it's called with TT. My Ipaq 3975 (I think) uses bluetooth and the Speed cam overlay from POI warner, pretty good and quite accurate. I've always missed having the post code look up for TT but have found this and it's free. Uses the POI overlay way to do it have tried a couple of PostCodes and it so quick check it out on the forum ...Post Code and TT

S2000 OE (can't resist) you can expect it to get you to where you want to go. Have a look at PocketGPS.co.uk, and lots of others for an idea of what does what.
There's also a new upgrade for TT so everyone should do a check, much faster results for me. Well worth it.

Great Post Code idea. Once you've tried it comment on the thread and PTT I think many will miss it and they shouldn't.

WTF is a mex player? It plays CDs and mp3s and there's all sorts of video displays you can have on the screen. I've had no probs with the receiver so far. (Rikaline X7)

It comes with a credit card like remote which I'm not keen on to be honest, it does me headin. I use it with the Sony wired command module which works with any Sony H/U and just sticks on the side of the steering column surround. It just plugs into a socket on the back of the unit and controls all the functions. It's dead easy to hide the wires too so should work with the S. Under

cheers for the reply Tonky. the mex 5DI is one up from the cdxm 1000-tf and you can download your own pictures as wallpaper and screensavers!! my mates is the cdxm 1000-tf and it has apparently 14 preset screensavers which look pretty cool anyway!

should be getting it this weekend anyhow so we'll see which DCI (Dash Controller Interface) i need! they don't do this model in the US so none of the guys on the electronics forum have been able to help me so far! but i did appreciate their attempts!!

It's a great head unit..loads of power if you want to exploit it, changing speakers and stuff. I can download pics and vids to it I think. I haven't done it yet - looking for one with Aria Giovanni on it!
