Default Which year s2k to get?

Hi guys,

Looking to get an S2000 next month hopefully as needing a car pretty bad now.

Now ive got abit saved but im no millionaire haha,

My mate, who has previously owned an S2k, said dont get anything pre 2001, because of issues???

Now i could go out and buy one tomorrow as you get a decent one with low milage and decent bodywork but am put of my these issues.

Any advice?

Did he mention what any of these issues were

The major difference between the pre 2001 models was some suspension changes to make the car more driver friendly.
All other issues like Seized suspension bolts are common across all years.

Personally not enough to worry about.

I'd much prefer a clean 99 than a mistreated 2001. But I'm sure some of the other guys on here can give you a better insight

I would say subject to budget then 2004 to 2007 ... they seemed to suffer less issues than the newer - or older ones ... all IMO of course

I had a 2004 and a 2005 ... both were superb - it was just the idiotic owner who sold then that was faulty

Yeah i really like the 2004 models, they seem to start at a price of about £8k though, dont have that much yet unfortunately, and need a car soonish,

Stupid plastic rear screens pre-2001. That'd be a reason to favour a slightly newer car. On the other hand, if you don't care about that, it could be a reason you get more for your money on an older car.

Just don't buy an 09.

Realistically i want a low milage (50/60k) car, not too worried about the year as long as its mint, like no rusty arches, worn seats etc, preferably in black or silver/grey.

Dembo not too worried about the plastic rear window as i would want a hardtop for it anyway
