FS: Clio 172
I am reluctantly putting my Clio up for sale - I have had the go ahead to buy another convertable (I can think you can probably guess which convertable ), so unfortunately the Clio is up for sale. I honestly wish I could keep both, but I don't have the space.
So, the basics:
2001 Renaultsport Clio 172 Exclusive
Only 73,000 miles
10 Months MOT
2 months tax
Part service history - I have a folder of reciepts from throughout the cars history, and all but one MOT to verify the mileage.
Full genuine Renault cambelt kit, Aux belt kit, dephaser and Valeo clutch fitted 2000 miles ago
New rear discs, pads and wheel bearings 3000 miles ago
The car has been modified to a very high standard, and is set up perfectly for track use, here is the list of modifications:
Engine
Remapped with RS tuner
Ph1 airbox with uprated filter
Ktec mild steel stealth exhaust system with decat (tested at 94db)
Green Samco coolant hoses
Vibrotech solid engine mounts
Powerflex dog bone poly bushes
Interior
Fully stripped
6 point 3inch harness's
Corbeau pro series/forza bucket seats
OMP 330mm suede wheel and boss kit
Suspension
Gaz height and damping adjustable coilovers
Powder coated wishbones with Powerflex bushes
Powerflex anti-roll bar bushes
-2 degree rear camber shims
Front camber bolts
Brakes
Fronts have Brembo HC discs and ferrodo DS2500 pads
Standard rears
Stainless steel brake hoses
Brake fluid changed to 5.1
Wheels
Refurbished genuine Renault OZ F1 cups (Ph1 172 alloys) recently refurbished in Red - wheels in near immaculate condition
Tyres are Yoko Advans on the front with approx 4mm of tread, rears are PE2's, with approx 3-4mm
The car also has a HID kit fitted.
(I am sure there is quite a bit I have forgotten too!)
So as you can see, this is not the usual stripped Clio on a set of sticky tyres which is then called a 'track car' - All the modifications carried out have been to purely improve the cars performance, and it really does show in the driving experience.
As some of you know, I have fitted a 2nd hand engine, due to the previous engine having oil starvation - the engine that has gone in is a very strong one, and has recently ran 189bhp on the local rollers I use - it has no knocks, smoke or rattles, and burns no oil or water, and pulls brilliantly up to the 7600 rpm rev limit.
I will also state the engine that is fitted is a Ph1 172 engine, with the larger exhaust ports in the cylinder head.
The gearbox has no issues like some - it changes smoothly, and makes no noise at all - you can in fact go all the way up and down the box with clutchless changes with not even a hint of a struggle or crunch - definately the best 172 gearbox I have used.
As a package, it works brilliantly - the combination of the suspension, polybuhes, solid engine mounts and strong brakes makes it a very quick car and huge fun around a track.
Bad points
Not many!
A few stone chips on the bonnet (nothing huge, just listing everything I can think of)
The exhaust has a slight resonation from the middle box occasionally.
A few small marks - one on the n/s of the bottom of the front bumper, approx 2 inches long, one or two small car park dings.
I think thats about all the info I can give, I am open to any inspection - I have nothing to hide with this car, and it will honestly sell itself with the high level of care it has had, and the brilliant drive.
Just to add, I am also breaking another 172 Exclusive, so if there is any other bits you wish to have with this car, then I am sure we can come to some agreement
To give you an idea of the cost to replicate the money and modifications put into the car:
Drivers seat and side mount - £600
Cambelt kit, aux belt kit, dephaser and clutch - £420 + fitting
Gaz coilovers £500
Exhaust and decat £250+
Wheel refurbishment - £200
Harnesses - £100
Silicone hose set £200+
As you can see, the car has had no expense spared in it's modifications, and all of the usual Clio problems are either not present or fixed - ie, the gearbox is brilliant, the cambelt and aux belt have been changed, dephaser changed plus a recent MOT.
With all this done and completed, it means you literally have nothing to do bar drive it and enjoy it!
Please PM me for any more info
**Price is now reduced to £1950!**
