S2000 Quaife 6 Speed Sequential Gearbox
#21
I think it can go into any car with a simular setup (RWD Transmission tunnel), its just the bellhousing adapter plate if you notice in the picture above and you may have to make special mounts (if the other car is different that you want to fit it to) or a shorter/longer prop shaft so if you decide to sell, standard gearbox goes back in and keep it for later :]

Oh ****
It costs the same as a Mugen hard top, is more functional and WILL lower lap times plus only you will know it's fitted, that's the 'mark' of cool

Are they straight cut gears? Are you in the realms of trailering the car with one of these fitted, due to noise and hassle?
" With the Quaife, you have the option of helical- or straight-cut gears. We've opted for straight cut, which are more efficient (there's no axial thrust force caused by helical-cut gears) and make that great high-pitch whine. We've also fitted the gearbox with the optional gear position indicator and the standard/short shift lever. Finally, we selected the Burton-type short input shaft that's designed to work with a hydraulic release bearing and push-type clutch. "
Good read but I'm not convinced all that work making new mounts was needed.....when we were asked which lever we wanted (there is an option of 7 different levers to choose from), we were told it could be orientated at any angle you wished. That said, the problem the guy in the thread had was simply a lever positioning one, so it sounds like this has been sorted since, or he simply didnt know about re-orientating it himself at the time......
I'll get some more precise info from Quaife on Monday in regards to the other questions on lead times, warranties etc etc.
Thanks for the interest in the meantime. By all accounts it seems an awesome piece of kit.

It just gets better.
Quaife's aftermarket service seems to be top notch too.
Do I get a commission?
I think as long as you're not expecting production car levels of refinement and you're prepared for a least a little 'development' work you can't go wrong.
I wouldn't buy one expecting great things lap time wise. Nobody is racing, it's not relevant anyway.

It's going on my list of things to consider, but i'd need to know a lot more about the ease og install (I guess HEL are fitting one soon) and how it performs.
What does it weigh vs OEM?

Sweepstake on how long before MB buys one of these. It's inevitable. He knows it, we know it

If there was say 3 of us interested in one of these would there be any futher discount?
There is a weight comparison somewhere MB. I'll see if I can dig it out. IIRC there was about 8 pounds in it, in favour of the Quaife.
