Prices have been dropping like crazy.... Its pretty nuts. Wish they did something to commemorate the last year. Maybe I'll pick up a high mileage AP1, once they start hitting the 5k-10k mark... haha.
I actually miss my AP1 with hard top a bit more than my Laguna.. Although if I had a hardtop on the Laguna, I'd probably miss that one more...

Hey
I think i have most beat on being on this board and others too.
And I have had mine since Aug 1999. And still the same one.
Glad to see someone is spending money out there. The Pres should just give you all the money to spend huh?

Patinum - Care to share the link for that? I'd rather like to see that.
Devilchrist - not only is it impossible (additional structural bracing is in the way), it would defeat the purpose of the weight-savings Pat and other CR owners are opting for.
Either way, congrats Pat! I'll be hitting 2 years this May.

Yeah, keith is definitely the vintage owner. What # S do you have?
Devilchrist - My mind did start wandering once and I thought it would be cool to have a temporary softtop for road trips. No motors or anything, just take off the tonnaue, bolt down a couple of spots, and have a temporary folding top for trips to the dragon and such (if it would fit, even poorly). But then I saw what steps were involved in doing a top transplant (slashed top, broken plastic window, etc.) and decided a temporary solution couldn't be done.

I first saw this on someone's S2k at the ALMS race at Road America this year (silverstone AP1 IIRC, anyone here?). Unfortunately, I don't think it's waterproof, but could probably protect me from a drizzle - and hopefully the birds, theives, and haters.

Interesting find, Pat. Does it secure via cables going around the bottom of the car to help deter thefts, at least somewhat? I wonder if something like that could be made to attach to solid pieces that attach to the top of the windshield and around the side windows for a very temporary soft top like you had said (sort of a mix between that link and a full-blown soft top).
Yep, Keith has us all beat, I think.
I got my first one in Feb '01 (Yes, February, had the cash, was having a shitty day at work, took a long lunch and plunked down a deposit. Drove it home in a light snow believe it or not).
That one survived two crashes at Road America including a barrel roll in Canada Corner. The engine letting go at Putnam Park and resulting underhood oil fire finally did her in.
I just bought my second; an '00 with 99k miles from SoCal that was an understudy for 'The Fast and the Furious 2 - Electric Boogaloo' which has spent all it's time at NOPI and HIN shows, and seen much more Zymol than 103 octane (i.e. it's been babied, probably never seen over 8k rpm).
Now I have some transplanting to do (KWv3's, Wilwoods, Elda Bar).
