mike I run LOTS of different tires :-) As of now hankook street tires or toyo ra1's.

autox isn't my top priority.

the ra1 is by far the best tire for driving to the track with. can last nearly a season, handle street miles, etc.

btw my fastest spec miata lap is usually one of the first couple, so they really don't need to warm up that much (ra1 is the spec tire)

for autox they seem to work pretty well for me, but I am giving up about .5 per run.
