Some pretty depressing stories going on here . . .

I totaled my Mazda Protege5 last year (three months after I totaled my old S2k!) after hitting a deer at 2:00 AM. I was driving up to Appleton. The whole passenger front end was smashed in, and had tons of fur, blood, and meat all over the hood and fender. The car tore some flesh off. The bumper was hanging, and my headlight was gone. With no phone to call anyone, my dad and I got back in and kept driving. Dropping chunks of broken plastic and leaking coolant for the next 90 miles. Then I drove it back home in the same condition. But nearly overheated the engine due to lack of coolant. Had to call a tow truck to pry open the hood so I could refill the reservoir.

THEN, before that, I was in Cali driving to Lassen Volcanic and I hit a bird. It hit the windshield and one of the wings flopped across the glass. It stuck for a fraction of a second, then it slid off going over the roof. A second later I could see it spinning like a broken airplane to the ground in the rear view mirror. I know it's not funny, but it was almost like watching a cartoon.

And on the way back to Mt. Shasta from Lassen Volcanic, I hit a few more birds.

In the last example I have, I never hit the thing, but it's still funny:
I was in my S driving up around Waupaca a number of years ago. Way out in the middle of nowhere, a bunch of Sand Hill Craines were crossing the road. I slowed to a stop and waited. The last bird turned, spread out its wings and started to hiss at me. Waddling it's way over toward the car, it lowered its head, still hissing as if it were going to attack my car. Instead of instigating, I backed up and the bird went on its way.

I was getting my alignment done on my car and the alignment tech found a little birdy legs dangling from within the engine lower shroud. When he pulled it out it was all bones and a few feathers. Poor little guy, he musta been in there for awhile.

When I used to have my EK/ITR hatch I was slammed on some H&R coilover and I hit a bunny but I didn't swash him, I just ended up brushing him off to the side b/c my front lip was about 2 inches off the ground. He hopped away.

Glad to hear at least one story with a happy ending here!

(And Pete, get your mind out of the gutter! )

More than one small mammal has met its end under my S2000. A racoon I hit at about 80 mph did this.

Yes, he was a very lucky little bunny. The bird in my bumper, at least he was hit by a nice car.

I chopped a bird's head off going about 80 with the grill of my 90 celica gts.
About 2 months later a bird flew straight into my windshield and bounced off into the forest I was driving beside-that one kind of made me laugh cause it made a hearty thump noise, but it was sad too.
Finally, I nailed a skunk in my bros 240...I don't wish that on anybody. Combined with the engine heat it was one of THE MOST DISGUSTING SCENTS I'VE EVER SMELLED.

True this^ i ran one over real late at night and figured the scent would last TOO long. i was wrong, i get home and park her in the garage, and the next morning i had my room mate questioning how long ive been storing dead animals in the house. The smell stayed for weeks. The skunk was dead..."ish" and still stuck under my car. so i left him some water and put the radio on next to him so that he would think people were home

Scrapdog, remember the bird those kids found in my car at that meet near the lake up north? I kept trying to convince them it was a "JDM bird" and that "it was the new thing out in SoCal".
