Chicago Indoor Racing
I'm going through racing withdrawl...anyone up for Chicago Indoor Racing? Even if you don't want to race, come by and check it out. THERE IS ALSO A BAR/RESTARAUNT UPSTAIRS (arcade machines, pool tables, view of the track, and speed channel on the tv's).
Here's some details for those that don't know about this awesome place (www.chicagoindoorracing.com):
What: Indoor go-kart track in Buffalo Grove, IL (off of Lake Cook rd, between 83 and 21). The experience is not like the crappy lawn mowers they pass off as go-karts at mini-golf places. This is actual racing, similar to the carting every F1 driver has done since they were a fetus. The cars top out at just over 35mph, but since you are low to the ground, it feels twice as fast. They're honda engines too! Racing techniques also apply in this environment. They also provide you with a race suit and helmet (although you can bring your own).
How much: Events range in price. The best deals are the group events. A "Mini Gran Prix" is $50. This includes 2 qualifying races and 1 race. $50. A "Gran Prix" is $70 and is 3 qualifying races and 1 race. They also have "Arrive and drives" (non grouped events). This costs $25 for the first 2 races and $10 for every race after that. For the "Arrive and drives" you need a "license". A licesense costs $10 for 1 month or $25 for a year. The license is not required if you go for a group event.
Who: Have to be 18 and valid drivers license to race. Races are between 6 and 10 people.
When: Whenever you guys want.
So I'm thinking a Mini Gran Prix is good since this will be most people's first time. I've been to this place quite a few times. Every time I've introduced this to a friend, they thought it was a bit expensive at first. After they raced, they thought it was a lot of fun and well worth it.
If you're interested, suggest a date and specify if you want to race or watch.
