Chicagos2k.com or Chicagos2000.com
I would like to know what perks you think you lose in being associated with the s2ki UMW community?
I would also be interested in knowing who on your site will be using the sponsorship. Is it free stuff, discounts or money? Can your site generate millions of hits daily to justify sponsors feeling they are getting their monies worth. s2ki promotes communities, any sponsors your local community goes to your community. Does not pass through s2ki at all. Do you have a club treasurer?
My suggestion as in other communities.... don't carbon copy a forums website. Why re-invent the wheel. But rather, set up a community website, as informational. Upcoming events, photos from meets, that kind of thing.
[QUOTE=jdnissanz,Aug 17 2006, 08:28 AM] I really love s2ki.com, but the only problem once it gets into specific regions like UMW we start loosing perks.

[QUOTE=Luder94,Aug 17 2006, 06:02 PM] I just don't get it...if you want a local forum to communilize with, why not go to one of the local forums?
If you want a local S2000-based forum to communilize with, why not just use this regional forum?

I go on plenty of local forums, but I dunno, i don't feel any sense of community with them. In addition they seem to be filled with people from the southwest suburbs, and all that people post about is drag racing. I agree that there's a decent regional forum here, and it does have a lot to offer, but there haven't been many meet postings, and IMO the windy city forum is the most worthless forum ever. Regardless, specialized local forums have always done a good job of bringing people closer to one another, and based on how well chicagoz is working out, I don't see any reason not to give it a try.

I really want to build up the S2000 community in Illinois and I would like to know if people would be interested and actually join the website. There will not be a fee at all to join and it will allow us to have an organized forums where we can create meets, sell items and talk about S2Ks and other cars.
- There are numerous meets planned in the Chicago area, both S2000 specific and general meets where former owners (and sometimes prospective owners) show up.
- We have a monthly FS/WTB thread that gets a fair amount of action.
- We can talk about S2000s. We don't much because frankly, there's nothing left to talk about. The car is 7 years old and has seen fewer than 10 changes of consequence.
- Any technical talk will typically end up referring back to S2Ki's Under the hood forum because just about everything you'd need to know is in there.
I guess I'm not seeing what the real gain would be.
See things are in the works, I like to have everybodys feedback and then work off of that. If you guys really think it should be a more detailed version of UMW forums then we can do that. I just figure most fo the other states with meets and all people wouldn't mind to go on the forum for any particular reason. I have a few shops and a body shop that I know that would love to sponsor. But remember sposoring isn't free crap and stuff is about getting our name out and showing our impact in the community and also getting sweet deals at the same time. I don't guarantee anyone money I don't guarantee anyone anything, but I can try and I really will. I want to start asking who would like to moderate to have an idea of support. Also, I know change sucks sometimes, but give it a try. On top of that, no spends a time I am makign the investment on this website both time and money and I won't ask a thing from you guys except for support. I think if we build a solid local forum and advertise and get the name out the possibilities are endless. Maybe my thought seem unreal or just plain stupid, but it is worth a try.
*Give me ideas on what you guys want to see on the forum (Layout and mroe)
*Moderators
*Anything else to get this project jump started

Ok so the Windy city is useless, but it brings people closer together. So what exactly is your point.
Have you seen how close the corner whores are in "the corner" why is that, if they just raise there PPD. Do you know of how many improptu meets are done for the people in the WC via PM? No dude you dont, you dont have a clue, so dont pass judgements when you dont know what going on.
