Default Considering AP2, Your input please

I'm looking at a few AP2's right now. Whats better for ECU tuning or reflash, 04-05 or 06+? I thought I remember reading one made power a lot easier.

I don't plan on doing much, just test pipe and 70mm single. Possibly header eventually.

Well, the beauty of 06+ is that you get throttle by wire, which means you can use the Hondata Flash Pro, allowing you to modify the factor ECU directly with any computer.

IMO, you DEFINITELY want to get an 06+, ideally 06-07.

I think the going rate is about $700. Basically, you plug it into a PC, chose your tune, then plug it right into the OBD II port and load 'er up.

I would suggest buying through an authorized dealer, and I know King Motorsports is one. I'm not sure if there are others in the area.

Even though I only have an intake (and may be getting a header next year), I plan to get one to adjust the tune. Even on a bone-stock car, you can smooth out the power band some. I know Patinum here has one and seems to think highly of it for his track use. He raised his rev limited to 8500, too.

Can you turn the traction control off? If so, how? I will be tracking the car a few times a year.

Oh HELL yes, there's a huge button just to the right of the steering wheel that you have to depress for about 1-2 seconds once the car is running. You don't even need the flashpro for this.

Turning VSA off is just part of my car-starting procedure.

Also, as someone who has owned both an AP1 and an AP2, as well as driven several of both (and several CRs), I *personally* like the out-of-the-box handling of the AP2 the most. It feels the most neutral, yet comfortable for the street. CR is a pretty close second, with AP1 being further behind just due to its "twitchy nature".

I like my twitchy AP1 thank you very much K1ngfunK! Not really but still boo on AP2, I like my 9k, but the drive by wire in the 06+ is def very nice.

Agree...

sorta...

I'm a former '01 ap1, '05 ap2, and now a CR owner I've had the opportunity to drive all three ('05 did not have VSA, did not have DBW)... the CR has both..

I'd say the list goes

CR
Ap2
Ap1

I feel much more comfortable driving the CR than the Ap2... at the Dragon this past Spring, I was much more comfortable with the balance of the CR compared to the Ap2 and the Ap1... yes.. I've driven all three at the Dragon...

I'll be curious to see how the CR does at the track next year..

As far as Hondata goes... I've heard lots of good things about it and would definitely have an authorized dealer tune it properly. I'll be doing a Hondata tune down the road (I still want to get the mods on my car first, then I'll do the tune).

Get an 06+. It's plug and play tuning with the Flashpro. That's what swayed me to get an 06+ and not an 04-05. After reading all the crap you need to convert to run K-Pro on the 04-05, I said forget it.

04-05 was the most desirable years...for a short time. Between the rawness (and lower price) of the Ap1 and the tunability of the 06+, 04/05 has become the least desirable (at least to me).

CR is the best out of the box for tracking. Hands down. They all still play in the same ballpark though.

Will this be in addition to or instead of your AP1?
