Default Evolution Performance Driving School

I just wanted to give everyone a head's up that the Evolution Performance driving school will be coming to the area.

Who: Evolution Performance Driving School hosted by the Indiana Northwest Region SCCA
What: The premiere autocross/performance driving school in the country.
When: May 1 for Phase 1, May 2 for Phase 2
Where: Majestic Star Casino, Gary, IN

For those of you that don't know, the "Evo" school is a traveling school that provides top notch driving instruction for autocross. Check out the website (I really like their video) for more information.

My Experience:
I did the Evo school last year in Atlanta, "on my way" to the dragon. I thought it was great. Even though I was starting my 6th season of autocross, I feel I learned a lot at that school. I pretty much had the basics down, which the Phase 1 school focuses on, but having a top instructor in the car with you helps immeasurably. One of my instructors was Tommy Pulliam who had just trophied 4th place at nationals in a CR the prior year. That's what I call learning from the best. By the end of the day, I had broken some of the bad habits I picked up over the years. And the bad habits I didn't break, I was at least aware of and continue to work on.

$250 might seem high, but again, this is top instruction. If you break it down, a standard SCCA cost of $35 (for members that preregister), and 6 runs, that's about $6 per run (which doesn't include membership fees). At the Evo school, I think we got 30 or 35 runs (about $7 - $8 per run), plus lunch, a hat, and decal. In addition to those runs, you ride along in with the instructor in your car and see what your car really can do.

I highly recommend this course to beginners and long time autoxers alike. This school is traveling so who knows when it will be in the area again.
