Default flat tire :(

So I hopped in my car this morning to run a quick errand, got on the expressway and noticed a little vibration in the steering wheel as well as the car was drifting to the right. Pulled over to check it out and found the right rear tire was pretty flat. Before this there was a slight burning smell, almost like what it smells like after hard braking, maybe from riding partially on the sidewall...

So I went to go put air in it to see if it would hold, and of course not, by the time I got home it was flat again Overall I coulda put on 20 miles in the past 24 hours from when/where I drove it last. I didnt feel it last night whil driving, but I wasn't really listening nor paying attention at the time.

Either way, I guess tomorrow I'll jack up the car and try to find the leak (fill the tire w/ air and use soap/water mix) and try and patch it with one of the pep boys patches. The rears prob still have 60% tread left

Take it to a tire shop and have them patch it. They will use a plug which will hold MUCH better than a DIY patch kit.

If the hole is in the sidewall, and the tire DOES need to be replaced, be sure to replace BOTH rear tires. One with 100% tread and one with 60% is not a good idea.

i second that...i've had to do this twice in the last two years. most gas stations and auto shops can do this pretty quickly, ~$20.

psyeha. 1 flat tire and you're complaining? i've had a flat on EVERY side of my car since May (when i got the whole new set of tires). in fact, i believe my front pax side will have a flat waiting for me when i get back into Chicago t'row nite...

i guess that's what happens when you drive 20K/mi a year? 5 flats in 5 months.

Well just got back from the local firestone shop and they patched the tire, but when he brought out the tire to me there was air rushing from a tear in the sidewall Looks like I'll just go hunting for a whole new set of rears

That happened to me too. I had the hole first which caused it to go flat. Probably rode around a while before I noticed and by then the sidewall was damaged from having too little pressure in the tire to hold it up.

Here's a tip for all of you..... it's called road hazzard. Sack up, get it and live by it. It's a cheap insurance policy and as long as you have a minimum tread (75% or better) you can go into Just Tires, NTB, Firestone, etc and they will roadhazzard your tires for $12-20 per tire. If you have one blowout it will more than pay for itself. Tires are not cheap on the S2. Sorry to hear about your situation. PRevent that from happening again.

$20 a tire...i dunno how good of deal that is. you're talking about completely ruined tires, right? i don't know too many people who've had blown-out tires. if you go through 2 whole sets with one blown tire, you break even. any more sets (which is probably most common, especially w/the >75% tread rule), and you end up on the losing end. how many people here have had blown out tires?
