Default Holiday Event Planning

Hello All,

It’s that time of year again for our holiday party
This is just a discussion thread to get some ideas.
I wanted to gather up a large crowd again this year.
I expect this meet to happen some time in December.

I would like to have a slide show going on (so we need volunteers for pix, and projector, possibly screen, or laptop)

Some questions
1. Do we want a raffle (King Motorsports, one6, GT motoring, etc …)?
2. White elephant gift exchange ($15-20)
3. Just order pizza, bread? Food?
4. Location

Let’s discuss.....

3-4. Des suggested we try and get a private room at Royal Buffet. Plenty of food choices for everyone and in a good location.

If for some reason we can't do Royal Buffet, We can always have it at the pool hall (Rack em Up, in Buffalo grove) and do a pot luck and order more food if necessary.

I think a raffle is a great idea! I'm sure Anish (Speed-Freaks) would be willing to donate some items for the raffle also

I also think a white elephant gift exchange is a great idea and I think $20 is a good amount.

I do think Royal Buffet would be a great choice. A few of us went there last weekend and were very impressed with the quality of food and the large selection of different items. They have some large party rooms in the back that would be perfect

As far as dates, I will be out of town the weekend of December 21-22 for a wedding and Christmas related festivities. But am free the first two weekends (12/7-12/8 & 12/14-12/15)!

The earlier in December the better. Closer to the holidays and it's going to get hectic and busy for everyone.

The weekend of 7-8 is my son, mine and my brothers bday weekend. That does not work for me at all. Or else ill sabatoge the event so you will attend my party instead. So I vote the following weekend of 14. Also, I find that white elephant gets crappy when its with people you wouldn't normally give a gift to. People tend to go cheap, ganeric gift your grandma gives, or you flat out get hosed with a gag gift. If we do white elephant, I would prefer a higher minimum or a list of recomended gifts. That way no one gets stuck with 3 issues of Fast Mustangs, Super Street and Hot Rod Mag. Or $20 worth of JDM airfreshner

I am off the weekend of the 14-15 or 21-22, so either works well for me. I like the raffle idea for the reasons Jeggy explained (although I could use refill of my JDM Yo! squash air freshener).

As far as food is concerned, it doesn't matter to me as long as we all get to hang out honestly. Royal Seafood Buffet in Schaumburg is deliciously awesome as I go there probably 1-2x/month. Unlimited crab legs (lobster on the weekend) can't be beat.

I also agree with no issues of Fast Mustang and Super Street as my subscription is still active through the end of the year. I don't need 2 copies each month.

I'm out of town the weekend of the 14, just FYI.

I like white elephants and raffles, and royal buffet had an amazing selection.

Can't do any weekend in December girls have swim meets the 7-8, and 14-15 (Karly's birthday on the 14th.) 21-22 is too close to Christmas and its Sam's birthday weekend. 28-29 is Lauren's birthday weekend
