Here are some quick instructions to get you going with the Google Calendar:
You have to register for a Google ID. You do not have to have or use a gmail account to have a Goggle ID, you can use your current email address to register. (If you have a gmail account, you already have a Google ID, just use your gmail account.)
Once registered, open your calendar.
Then you can add the UMW Event Calendar to it by clicking the add button here:
It will open a search box. You can enter the name of the calendar (in this case UMWS2ki) (The UMWTrack calendar could also be found here.) and search (arrow 1) once found, you can add the calendar by clicking the button below the calendar (arrow 2)
You can toggle how the calendars will overlay each other, by turning the S2ki event calendar or your personal calendar (or any other calendars you are subscribed to) on or off (arrow 2) or access advanced functions by clicking the downward facing triangle (arrow 1):
In the advanced settings, you can setup notifications. These settings will control how this calendar will notify you of changes, either via email or via SMS Text messages to your cell phone:
Borrowing the FL area calendar, I can show some of the cool features of working WITH the calendar itself:
You can select Monthly, weekly, daily or agenda views here:
The agenda view shows all upcoming events in a list like this:
You can click on any event for a quick pop-up of details (arrow 1) From there you can click for even more details (arrow 3) or add the event to your own calendar in case you have someone else (a spouse for example) checking your calendar for free/busy time (arrow 2)
In the detailed view you can view a google map of the location of the event (arrow 1) or add your own reminder for the event, these can be email or a pop-up (arrow 2)
