Hey Minnesotans, let’s have a general happenings thread as a way to keep people engaged. Take the poll and hit the Watch topic (subscribe) button. Those who don’t check in very often can then stay apprised of possible meets etc…without trying to track you down. Taking the poll will allow us to plan, or not based on collective answers.

Tangerine,

I'd join you for a track day at Brainerd but need to get my retainers done and buy a helmet. (Unless they allow Darth Vader helmets) Have not been to the track yet so it would need to be a day with instructors.

here's an idea. Take a day off work. Come out with us next Monday. Spend the day at the track. They have a trailer full of gear. New helmets that are cleaned each week. Hang out, see what its all about, meet great people and go for ride alongs once or all day. You can see if its something you even want to try without spending a dime. Other than the gas money to get up there. It woudln't be a problem to sit through the hour of classroom as a visitor if you wanted. I've even had my kids go out in the instructor SUV's several times. We have 2 s's for sure, and probably 3. Maybe more. I am trying to get there for the first session. Lately I've been going to the office for meetings then heading up for the second half. whatever works.

Sounds like fun. I definately want to try it but did a minor overrev about a month ago and am paranoid and want my retainers done pronto. I inspected the retainers and they all look fine but I am anal about that kind of thing so a 200 mile drive would be out. Don't think it would be worth it to drive the Highlander up there, I want to participate. Still waiting to hear back from Elite on what they want to do a retainer job. I suppose I should order the parts just to have them ready.

you are fine for a first day out. You might put some dot4 brake fluid, ATE or Motul, but not neccesary. You currently have relatively new pads and rotors so you are fine. Hopefully you put OEM pads in last time. I change my fluids after a track day, not before. Just make sure everything is topped off and connected properly. Torqued lugs and proper tire pressure and you should be good to go.

well when I replaced my brake pads last time i just did the fronts. My backs are just about gone. I have some in the mail though and they should be here by the end of the week. They aren't OEM though, they are higher performance than stock but not to the point where they are track pads. I only concern is getting the pads in the mail and in on time before Monday. That and I currently don't have a working heat temp gauge because of my aem ems. I dont think it will over heat but you never know.

Are you just going to that one? it looks like I could do either that or the one on the 26th. I think I could maybe get ready by this monday though. I have the money to do it and I don't work that day, i just need to car to be ready. It has been running great. As i said i just have to put in new pads which I have ordered and I don't have a temp gauge unless I plug my computer into the car. But I haven't had temp issues ever.
