Right on, as Uncply mentioned, the next open day is 9/26. Its the long track day. T1 has been know to jar a bowel movement in better men than me. Its an 8 degree banked turn after a Mile plus straight away. It scares me. you can enjoy a cup of coffee by the time you get to it. So I prefere the other track. However, I may just go out and enjoy a leisurely pace that day. Or do ride alongs with friends. Sign up, I'd love to meet more trackies out there.

Honestly I don't see much purpose for the long track, at least in a street car. It would probably be fun for the first few times around but after that I would feel like im just wasting fuel and beating on the car pointlessly. I think the strait on the shorter course is long enough and doesn't need another mile of it. The straight on the smaller course even got old. I looked forward to getting to it every lap because it was really the only place you could safely pass someone. Just my 2 cents.

I think the difference between the two is really marginal - you have the infield turns 10, 11, 12 and then you're essentially back out onto the faster part of the course. The Donnybrook has 10 very challenging corners; turns 2-8 being exactly the same, of course. I am into 6th 3/4 of the way down, so no real beating on the car. Hitting the rev limiter and smacking your crankshaft around can happen going to Byerly's. I enjoy both courses, just as I enjoy MAM vs. Road America vs. Hastings vs. Topeka vs. Autobahn etc etc. tangerine is correct in noting that Turn 1 requires some mental aerobics, but there's no requirement that you go speed x. I started out braking and going back into 5th at the corner's entry for a while before I eased into just lifting throttle. It's like anything else - practice, take your time, there's no racing involved. I'm just happy to be doing a track day and getting out to keep finding the line. Before it snows.

When are you guys going to the track again? I'd love to get as many tracks under my belt as I can before winter hits.
Well said aCab. I put a premium on non-aggressive fun, courtesy, intelligence. It means absolutely nothing to me to pass or be passed. My line is my line, and my car is what it is, and I love it. I have track junkie friends who drive GT3s, M3s, Boxster S's etc. who jump at the chance to throw my s2k through the corners. At the end of the day, it's the driver, not the car. Skill level and all out fun have no correlation to horsepower in the uncply book. And I always always always check my mirrors and give a visible point-by! And, while I'm on the topic, get...off...the...gas when I'm passing you.

Who else is doing MOWAG 1? I can't make it Sunday but I am registered for the first event on Saturday.

Doing BIR short course on May 21...

Report from this past Friday at Mid America Motorplex - ran Cobalt XR2/XR4 with Nitto NT01s for the first time, and it's an excellent setup for the s2k. Ran up against Corvettes in the corners. I recommend this setup to anyone!

Anyone going to BIR on 5/21/2012? Comp course!

May 21 is 2 early. I want to do BIR at least once if not 2 or 3 times this summer though depending on my schedule and car ect. Hopefully I got a lot of the bugs worked out of the car. Bigger radiator should help over last year. what is going on on the 5/21 date?

Hmmm, I suck so i normally fall behind the vettes in the corners but I pass them up with the straights
