Need reliable mechanic!
Hey everyone,
My mother's van recently started to leak coolant so I took it to a mechanic refered by a friend. He charged cheap labor so I went ahead the van in. (Idk if this mechanic is completly certified or not and that may be reason it reflects prices.) This mechanic is actually on Morse st same st as DS1 in Schuamburg.
Well the guy said it was a bad radiotor. So he put it in. Next day the check engine light goes on. Took it back in, he said it was a bad oil sensor. Week later its still leaking coolant farther down the underneath the van. I'm so pissed cuz my seem like something keeps breaking. Granted the van is a '99 but still one problem after the next. My moms shelled out a lil over a $500 in repairs and problems persist. Tho the oil sensor may be unrelated the coolant pipe underneath the van isn't. Seem like he jacked it in the wrong spot or maybe was pulled the process of getting the radiator off.
Can some please refer me to a mechanic near by that charges cheap? but is a good. Or if anyone is willing to help me switch it out let me know. I'm willing to compensate any fellow member.
**sorry for the rant, just pisses me off how ppl can scam ppl let alone ppl in need.**
This is the reason why I chose to work on all my cars and try to learn as much DIY as i can. cuz i know what work was done.

check out amerimex on 95th in oak lawn you can talk to Freddy the manager let him know I (Lionel) told you to go by I think its a 50 dollar full check of the car but if they do the work they will not charge you the fee but they are very honest. Explain what happened and let them know you do not wanna take it back to the shop that did the work to it. The shop is not close to you but they will be well worth the trip
Project X in Glenview, Eli and Larry did all work on my Datsun and it came out great, they work on normal cars as well. They fixed about 30 different issues so far and I'm really impressed with their work as well as their prices, they're cheap.
As a good example they were going to charge 375 bucks for full z31 auto to manual swap(its A LOT of work).
I'm bringing them Audi S6 to work on this Saturday, like I said they work on everything.
