need some help here guys. I have an 02 s2k. the car is not running right. when i'm in 1st gear at about 3-4 rpms and I mat the peddle, the v-tec wont kick in til about 7500 rpms if at all. then I shift to 2nd and it don't kick in til about 6500-7000 rpms. and when it does it stutters a bit and then goes. and sometimes in 2nd it will kick in and out once or twice and then go. so any help would be much appreciated.

 

So I've cleaned the vtec solenoid screen and I still have the same problem. I need to replace air filter because it is pretty clogged up. I have an AEM V2 Intake, and has a dry filter on it. is it ok if I were to put a different filter on it? such as a K&N oiled air filter. just don't know if it will affect how the system works.

 

I'm certainly no mechanic, but I'd look into the fuel system as well. Is the car throwing any CEL's?

 

You aren't trying to hit vtec while cold right?

 

what was the last thing you did to the engine? mods, maintinence, cleaning, repair? factory spec spark plugs?

 

Have you checked the oil pressure ?

 

NO! Definitely not. did that once about 3 years ago when I first got the car and didnt know any better. but never after that.

 

so what I've done so far. I have changed that spark plugs, changed the air filter, cleaned the MAP sensor, and cleaned the vtec solenoid screen. and I still have the problem. so whats next?

as for mods that I've done is just a cat back exhaust about a year and a half ago.

 

and also checked to see if the solenoid was working. and it is.

 

no I have not. I do not have a gauge.
