Default New Guy Here...

Hey guys, I've been a member on this board for about 9 months, but I haven't posted here too often. I thought I'd introduce myself and tell you guys about the project I'm working on. I live in the Chicago western 'burbs. Last October I got my hands on a used MY00 engine, trans, computer, and all the wiring harnesses. And this summer I'm starting the project of swapping it into a '90 RX7. Some of you may think it's nuts to replace a rotory with a piston engine or put a honda into a Mazda, but when the rotory is a non-turbo 160 hp example, it was an easy choice for my brother and me. I acquired the f20c from Ultimate Racing in Toronto as they used it to mock up their turbo system on.

My plan is to get the engine running on the test stand before I put it into the car. I already have a fuel system made up and I'll be hooking up a radiator soon. The reason for this is I want to make sure I have all the electronics figured out and everything is working properly before I put it into the RX7. It's a lot easier to troubleshoot the circuits when it's out of the car. I have to find ways to bypass some of the emmision control circuits such as the Pulsed Secondary Air Injection and the EVAP system. I may find a way to incorporate the EVAP controls into the RX7 components. I'm kind of new to the Honda tuning world and to the F20C engine. If you guys have any advice or tricks about the f20c, let me know. I'd be glad to hear from you. I'm currently waiting on a few items, and then I should have this thing running. If you know anybody who has a stock primary oxygen sensor, let me know. I need one.

Tom

Here's some pictures of the project.

thats an interesting project your doin there.. heres a tip, your better off running a standalone ecu, since the stock ecu is obd2 compliant.. if you were to remove any emission related device, it will run in open loop and your engine will not perform at its full potential.. but it will still run though..

BTW, welcome to the board..

im colts brother.

Yeah, we did think about going with a standalone ecu, but that costs big $$$$ so we thought we would give the stock ecu a try. For the second O2 sensor, we are going to try to get an eliminator for that so it will run in closed loop.

Colt, nice project you got goint there..

I believe we met at an auto-x, you jumped into my car for rides, and I was the newbie there in a silverstone s2000.

If that's you, good to see you here and good luck with the project.
If I could be of any help, let me know, I'd more than glad to repay for the tips as well as for the hookup on the ride in the gutted out stang.

Thanks for the encouragement. Thanks for welcoming me to the board, maybe I'll see some of you around at autocross or dyno events. I happen to be a member of JSCC www.jolietsportscarclub.com Any of you guys are welcome to come out.

s2conda,
Yea, we did meet at the JSCC autocross. Thanks for the ride in your car. I'll send you a PM and we can talk further.

profpin,
That's an excellent point you have there. I've taken that into consideration and have some idea's to trick the computer into thinking those emissions devices are still there.

I'll keep the board updated with this project's progress. Does anybody have a 02 sensor that they're not using???

Tom
