open and closing the top

I got a stupid question which may keep me from opening and closing the top whenever I drive it weather permitting....
I hear stories of the top wearing down. Is this because of daily opening and closing, or is it the sun that does this?
I plan to drive a lot top down..................and was wondering if it is ok to open and close it once or twice a day without seeing wear ?

when I first got the S last spring I almost exclusively had the top down through till the fall....and i mean i would drive it top down and garage it top down !!
Once or twice a day wont be an issue - and im sure the wear will be years not months....
....didnt honda do a tsb on top wear holes anyway??? im not sure....just know there was a lot of talk about it on here over the last few months.

yeah it's cuz the weather here in Chi town is like in the UK...........one minute it's sunny, the next it's down pour............
I guess the only time you would need to take the top up was if you made a stop at the mall or something.................
thanks lee

garage it top down !!
Luckily I didnt panic but from that day on top up while garaged.
There was no TSB or changes to the top. I think the TSB just says that there is a problem and instructs the dealership to replace the top under warranty.
The problem is that holes wear through the top material.
There was a suggestion that opening the top all the way could stretch the top over the mechanism and the vibration of driving could cause the holes.
The opening and closing of the top itself should not be a problem.
Older convertable tops would shrink slightly over time and cause problems closing the top if you left it down (and unstretched) for long periods of time. Some people with hard tops have indicated that they have had MINOR problems getting the tops to close again after long periods of time with the hard top on. I usually park the car in my garage with the top up, but not always.
If I make a stop with the car, at a store or something, I always put the top up. As such I have put it up and down 8-10 times in a day.

Ive had a similar story with keeping the top down in the garage. I got in one morning, and i hadnt even got to the end of my street when it started to drizzle. I put the top up, and literally 10 seconds later felt something really big in my hair. I slapped myself upside the head as hard as i could (while still driving) and this big ass hornet fell on to my dash, i pulled over hit the e-brake did a death roll outta the car, opened both doors and prayed the son of a bitch would fly out. That ride to my friends house was nerve racking since i wasnt sure if the bastard got out.
