Default Please be careful!

So this morning I was headed up 53 getting off on Lake Cook going east, I was not driving fast (at least not compared to other traffic) nor was I going any faster than I normally would if anything I was going slower, as I started to get off on the ramp to lake cook from 53 going east, I hit a bump and my rear end lost it. I spun out of control and hit a snow bank. My car is almost 100% ok, I have a crack in the front bumper but it is pretty much fine, and I am fine (which is most important).

I was sitting there and there were people who stopped to help but i was stuck on the curb so they couldn't help me, I called my insurance company to get a tow and 45 mins later it came. However during the time I was waiting a police officer stopped who was getting off his shift and another police officer happen to be near by so he got called and the first police officer left. The second police officer was very cool, he insured me I wasn't going to get a ticket and told me a story how he lost control in his squad car too, he said the embarrassment of that alone was enough of a punishment. It sure as hell was embarrassing...

But will be way more cautious when going on and off ramps, one bump you dont see can end your life or at least **** you up. I missed a light pole by 1 foot. I just want to tell people no matter how good your at driving a simple bump can throw you off... PLEASE be careful out there!

Yup, P.S. I forgot to say as we were sitting waiting for the tow truck two people almost SLAMMED into the cop because of the same thing that happened to me... but lucky for them one was in a big suv and he had 4WD and the other slammed on the breaks really hard.

to the people who do read this thread, do not slam on brakes. i did that and it was indeed a mistake.

Oh wow, glad your ok? **** this weather I gota move somewhere like arizona! lol

Yeah I knew not to slam on my breaks, when i lost it I wasn't touching them, when I started to lose it i tried correcting right away let off the gas and hoped it would slow down or it would catch... you know the story from there, I think if I didn't have so much clothes on (jacket, gloves, big boots) I might have been able to catch it earlier in the loss of traction or maybe not... Ahh well my bumper had rock chips all over it.

Pressure on the brakes and steering through it smoothly is the key.

Tapping the brakes if slight pressure is sliding, obviously.

Michelin Pilot Alpin or Artic Alpins I can't remember, I found em with rims off craigs list thanks to a member on the forums, but I wouldn't recommend them, they are NOT soft at all, specially compared to blizzaks... They feel a lot like all seasons and don't have much road noise at all. I DO NOT recommend them at all, in snow they slip quite a lot and aren't very predictable. But for the price i got for the rims and tires I couldn't complain.
