Post Proud New Owner of S2000

Hello, I'd just like to share with you that today is a historic javascript:emoticon('') day for me, I purchased a 2001 Silverstone S2000 javascript:emoticon('') I 'm super excited about it. javascript:emoticon('') It's almost 9 years old but the condition is emaculate, it's got low miles and only had one owner. The only problem is the back window is plastic and as soon as I parked it in the garage and opened the roof the plastic window broke, I'm guessing from the cold. I believe I can just replace the window(please correct me if I'm wrong) I'd obviously get a glass one; how much is it approximately? or if anyone is selling one I'd definitely buy it from you.

I'll try to post some pictures soon.

I look forward to seeing you guy at meets once the season starts
Joanna

Welcome to the community!

As for the plastic back window; yes, it can be replaced with a top with glass window as I don't think you could just replace the window and not the entire top (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

You can keep an eye out on the FT / WTB thread for stuff that you want for the car:

FS / WTB

In the meantime if the crack is not too bad you could get by with some tapes...

Be on the lookout for winter meets too!

Welcome!!

You can have a shop replace the plastic but please DON'T you'll hate yourself for doing that. Like Klui said, keep an eye out there or post a WTB (want to buy) in that thread. People will PM you with prices. The other option would be get a hard top

Are you driving it at all this winter?

Don't forget to post in: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=687335 (its a who is thread )

If you got any questions just ask, most people are a ton of help!

HI AND WELCOME TO THE COMMMUNITY. I RECOMMEND YOU USE SOME CLEAR TAPE TO REPAIR YOUR BACK WINDOW. IT WORKS GREAT.

Welcome to the club, Joanna.

Not only to the UMW s2ki club, but also to the "I broke the plastic window on my 2001 S2000 due to dropping the top in severe cold" club... of which I thought I was the only local member. Clear tape will, in fact, do a decent job of fixing the problem for now, but I would suggest replacing the top with a glass-window (02+) replacement. I swapped my whole top, frame, and motor assembly on mine during one of our "tech day" meets and that did the job perfectly.

As others have said, be sure to make it out to meets to get the most of the club. I no longer have my S2000, but I still hang out around here and attend meets solely due to the awesome people I've met through here.

Congrats Joanna! Still have the RSX or did you have to sell it to make the upgrade? Hope to see you and Pawel @ some meets and definitely autoxing next season.

I'm not sure but I don't think you can replace a plastic top with just the glass (the glass is smaller than the plastic)...does anyone know if you can replace plastic with new plastic? Like Garrison (K1ngfunk) said, you may want to replace the entire top. It's a bit of a tedious process but I'm sure we could gather up a few local members to help if you need it.

Congrats on the car. You can buy a new Robbins top with a glass window for a decent price.

Not 100% sure but pretty sure because I know people who have done it on other cars, body shops can usually replace it, but its NOT worth it... Few hundred bucks for something thats UGO when you can replace it with a barely used glass top... (which you have to replace the whole top not just the glass)
