Random Emission Testing?
Has anyone else received a letter from AHM about their 2005 or 2009 Honda being selected for emission testing? It looks legitimate; I just never heard of such a thing.
For those now curious: I turn my car over for a week or so to let Boshart Engineering do some tests on their dyno. In return I get $100, a rental car, and an emission test done.
Like I said, I've never heard of such a thing.

Is it just 2005 and 2009 model years??? That sounds like a strange choice. I haven't heard of such a thing. I guess for a $100, I'd be okay with swapping my cat back on.
Also, do you get a copy of the dyno results? That would be totally cool!

I got one last week as well, and I also got one a few years ago. I've done too many mods to mine to be interested in doing it, it's not worth the $100 for me to switch everything back to stock and be without the car for a few days.
It is legit, I called Honda about it the last time they did this.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Yes, this is for 2005 and 2009 models only (but not just S2000's). I just now finally got to sending back my information; then Boshart called me back within minutes. They were very excited to get a 2005 S2000 with 83,000 miles on it. That, in fact, was the rep's first question — that that wasn't a typo.
She then gave me a questionnaire that made us both laugh: "Was your vehicle ever used as a taxi?" "Was your vehicle ever used to plow snow?" Although I almost answered yes to that last one; what else do you call it when you drive through six inches of snow with five inches of ground clearance?
Anyway, some of the more serious questions were if I ever installed any performance parts, or removed the cat. I suppose those acts would have disqualified my car. As it is, they can't wait to get my car into the shop. She volunteered to move the originally scheduled date of November 30 up to next week because "most people park it by November," but I explained I drive the "S" daily, which she agreed accounted for the 83,000 miles.
I did forget to ask about the dyno report, but I can't imagine they wouldn't share that. When it comes back from Boshart, I'll post the results.

You totally should have answered "yes" to the second question!
