Default S2000s & Gingerman - 1st Impression

Caravan over. Nice to meet Keith, Perry, and the other owners. Silver, yellow, and red S2000's more than holding their own against the competition - Vette, several Miatas, Ferrari, Elise, etc. Neat. No crazy driving. Even better. The track is really tough on brake pads - an S2k playing F1 racer with flaming pads! Nice that the rain held off to enjoy great weather. Clearly the highlight of the day was not in a S2k but an M3. Dave, black BMW M3 from IL, offer to take both myself and my daughter (separately) for a few hot laps. 1:45 I believe I heard. What a rush, even in the passenger's seat. Beats the hell out of golf! Good pizza at the Vineyard's. Great top down trip home.

Lets see, now I begin with making a list: helmet, ATE super blue brake fluid, brake pads (not sure on these; but it probably would be a while before I put them to Keith's stress test), torque wrench (got that), misc. tools (got most of that but any suggestions on what I might need would be appreciated), tarp to store the spare/etc. Any ideas welcomed.

NOS, Lower suspension, AP Racing brake, Ground Effects, Wings, Racing Harness, Roll Cage, Turbo, Intercooler, and semi-auto will do the trick. hehe..

Anyway, Keith is researching about some cryo-rotors. In the mean time, I am going to try some pure track pads and see how that does.

Be sure to get a good helmet. If you really want it, get neck restrain also. I like to install racing harness on my car. But, I can't find a good spot to install them. I like racing harness. You can lean on them while braking. You will not feel so tired after a day in the race track.

Good to meet you. I am sure you can make it to the track next time we go out there.

I agree 100% using the racing harness. And, I read somewhere that it would be a major issue to install one in an S2k. Go figure... what were they thinking. They hand out SCCA flyers, but no place for a harness! I felt much safer in the M3 with them on.

Glad to hear you had a good time Dave!

On the brake pad subject, I'm working on a deal with Carbotech Engineering on cryogenically treated rotors, and "Panther Plus" track pads that are also usable for street usage.

I've talked to a lot of people who are using this compounds, on S2000, Integra Type R, and Audi S4, who say they are great. I will be ordering some for both my S2000 and my S4!

If anyone is interested in the possibility of a group buy on these pads and/or rotors, let me know asap.. (email is best.. keith@maddock.com)

meat,

I downloaded the form about a month ago, just haven't gotten around to sending it in. Are the annual dues based on 12-month intervals? If I send it now, will it come up again next Sept? The reason I ask is this year's track stuff is closing quickly for us folks near the great lakes.

Currently the membership term is running S2KDays to S2KDays.

Therefore, if you register now your membership will last until the end of the next S2KDays.

We will probably change the term to an anniversary date type renewal date or calander date arrangement in the future, but for ease (for us) it is S2KDays right now.

Yes, this is true. :-) I love S2K's, but don't have one...almost there with the NSX.

But I look forward to working with S2KCA members going forward, and would love to get feedback from the members on our products.

All S2KCA members receive a 10-15% discount, depending on the quantity ordered; see www.s2kca.com for details!

Regards,

Andie
