Something To Look Forward To
As I sit here buried in nearly 1/2 foot of snow, it's great to know there's an S2000 event being scheduled for less than three months away - May 25th to be exact. The Alfa Romeo Owners Club of Detriot and the S2000 owners have planned a full day to improve your driving skills in a non-competitive event. I did my first track event in my S2000 last October at this same track, Gingerman near South Haven, MI, with this same group and had a great time. Cost is $120. The maximum number of drivers is 55 for these Drivers Sessions. Put it on your calendar and give me a PM if you need more details. A helmet, Snell '90 or newer (eye shield for open cars) is required. Our stock roll bars are sufficient. Anyone wishing to just do the noon tour of the track, no helmet required, it's $20.

You know, being instrutor for couple of years now. I gotta say woman drivers are the easier to teach. They are more instructor friendly, and learn the fastest.
You should go to an event like this. You have a sports car for god sake. Use it right.

S2KGirl,
Although there are admittedly often times there are no girls driving, don't let that discourage you. I have a friend, Veronica, who has done several track days (with and without this bunch) in her Miata and she's always had a great time.
She says she's never been treated any differently than anybody else, although her fiancee reports that he sometimes gets grief since she's more apt to be wrenching on the car than he is.
Go and have a great time.

I had my S2000 out yesterday in the balmy 45 degree weather. Top down, of course, even when it was raining. Looking forward to another fun and fast summer - as soon as the sun comes out on a regular basis again!

Any S2000 owner's, especially any first timers, are encouraged to send in their entry form as soon as possible. We've gotten some already, plus a number of promises, but we'd really like to see a nice turnout of S2000 owners and the only way to ensure that is to sign up now. If you are on the fence on going, please don't procrastonate and find out there's no room. The idea here is to fill up all or most of the field with Alfa Romeo and S2000 owners -- people who love their car's and who will be extremely careful. That's not to say that outsider's, if and when it's opened to them, won't be.... but I know I would love to see a full field of our car's, thus ensuring it.
All you will need to do the event is a helmet, that meets the standards. Our stock roll bar is ok for Gingerman. It's a very safe track with lots of runover if someone should leave the pavement.
I'm really looking forward to this event and enjoying a few beers with everyone afterwards.
