I was *just* talking to a friend about how I absolutely loved the Rota Slipstreams I had on my AP1. The width and offsets were perfect, the color-matching by the previous owner was spot-on for Silverstone, and I was actually able to buy them because they were at a great price, even shipped. Just like my current S, I daily'ed AND autocrossed that car with those wheels, putting on tens of thousands of miles, and had no issues.

Meanwhile, I've yet to find any exhaust that competes with the satisfaction I had with my Asura 3" dual exhaust. It was well worth the money, and despite me having to sell it for financial reasons, I'll gladly buy it back when I get the opportunity. It's a completely unique product, design and made by hand in the US.
How convenient Kingfunk that those exact rota wheels that you loved so much just happen to be for sale still.
When I saw you posted in here, somehow I knew you'd make reference to those. Anymore, I feel like your gold wheels would look a lot nicer on my car than those, although I wouldn't be opposed to picking them up down the line for nostalgia...

I'd say the only thing that really "bothers" me is when people pass of the fakes as the reals. I'll gladly admit I was rocking rotas on my AP1 and would never call them Spoons or Regamasters or w/e, because I didn't care. I wasn't after the "baller status"... I just wanted wheels that looked good and my cheap college budget could only afford so much.

See this is actually the "correct" way to do this. They are NOT stealing, they are private labeling a product. One place does the MFG and then it leaves that warehouse with its given label. That's competition and marketing at its finest

"IF" these companies purchased these kits from the actual MFG in bulk and sold them under there name for less, assuming the MFG allowed this as some have fixed pricing, then this would be ethical.

IMO your not a real car enthusiast if your contributing to these companies. ED claimed they mfg a few of their "own" designs. Would be funny to see someone go reverse mold these kits and sell them for a fraction of what they sell for. Wonder if they would be "ok" with this

If anything, you're more of an enthusiast if you buy cheaper parts if they have the same quality. This allows you to do more to the car than worry about being a jdm whore and buying something just because it's made by a certain company.

Being an enthusiast is more than just buying parts to put on your car. Its a different thing to different people, so to say one person is right or wrong is pretty ignorant.

I understand the point you're trying to make. People have been saying it for years. Do what you want to your car. Other people can do what they want to theirs.

I just mentioned the walmart thing because people don't have alot of money right now and will shop where they can save. Walmart wants to open another one in Racine, 5 minutes away from the one we already have.

Kingfunk I would take partial trade for you're OEM wheels you have currently and I'm willing to deal. The more stuff I sell, the easier it will be for me to get my supercharger in a month or so. I'm getting it reguardless but it just helps.

I finally narrowed it down to science of speed. I think they might have COPIED another companies because vortech and comptech had the same design and style somewhat. LOL.
Had to stay on topic so I just through that in.

lmao...SOS did modify the kit and from what I understand they did use or go off the Comptech...Now if they change something 10% or greater they can call it there design or product (I could be off on the percentage) IMO you can go wrong with SOS or CT-Engineering. SOS also sells, and clearly shown, CTE parts off their web site.

I have always been against replica parts myself. I dont like to see a person's hard work go into making quality parts, to have it replicated/duplicated with such ease, and sold by some greedy guy looking to make a quick buck. That is just my opinion anyways.

There are the companies that make similar/almost matching products, isnt really the same as a full on duplication.

First before complaining you need to understand trademark, copyrights, design patents, etc. Second, for every failed Rota story I see there is a failed OEM, Volk, etc story as well. Use common sense - support what you feel is right - don't look down on those who disagree.
