Thieves beware!
Considering some of the thefts that this community has unfortunately experienced, I thought you guys would find this interesting. MI has a pretty stiff penalty for stealing just about anything from a car including any telephone or electronic device. The perpetrator is subject to 5 years in prison and/or $10,000 fine for stealing something as simple as a cell phone from a car. The Michigan Court of Appeals recently upheld the application of the statute (reversing the trial court) in the following case:

So any of you theives thinking of stealing a radar detector or something else from one of our cars. Think twice! Then, don't do it! (Of course, I have no idea what the penalties are like in other parts of the UMW. But still, don't steal!)

^^^ No, stealing from a car is a felony, not a misdemeanor here in Michigan.
