Default Tiny hole in my top

Just found a small hole in my roof. It is just forward of the most forward bar about 4 inches from the edge of the driver door.

I have an extended warranty through Honda (Rosen) taht I purchased when I bought the car new.

Questions

1) Do I contact Rosen 1st or Honda America ?

2) Is this usually covered ? The car is 4.5 years old with only 28k on it.

thanks in advance.

Looks like I'm out of luck. Honda Care will not cover tops on the extended warranty. I'm kicking myself for buying that useless warranty now.

Anyhoo, does anyone know where I can get material to do a patch job from the inside ?

Jeggy, thanks for the offer but I can't make it tonight. I have 3 yr old twins that pretty much keep me chained to the house these days. Do you have a link where I could buy the patch stuff online ?

thanks again.

the smallest they could sell me was half yard sections. so needless to say, i have A LOT left over.

Sgt Skidmark,
I have a 2007 S2k and I found a small tear on the passenger side, in between two cross members. I took it to my local Honda dealer and the regional service representative agreed to get me a completely brand new top, which I had done a month ago. I understand you were denied but maybe try again with another dealership to see if they will help you.

I also used to own a 2004 S2k and I had the same problem with wear/holes in the convertible top, in the same location. At that time I took my car to a upholstry shop that specialized in making covers for boats and cars, etc. They glued in two patches, one on each side, for a total cost of $45, which I eventually charged back to the Honda dealer. The piece of fabric they used was black and matched the top perfectly; no one could tell it was there. I had the car for over 60k miles and it never had a problem. The second own had it for another year and still never had any problems with the top so I can recommend gluing a patch in place.

I'm not sure where you live, but I live in Troy, Michigan. If you like I can give you the name and number of the upholstry shop I used; just let me know.

Regards,
Christopher

Any tips on how to do it? I have 3m vinyl adhesive and a section of top from another member who got theirs slashed.

I cut a patch coated in glue, stuck it in there and let it dry in place for about 24hrs. After a week or so of cycling the top the patch worked its way off. No idea why it didnt stay, bad 3m product?

The whole is getting rapidly worse.

What about using a high tensile strength thread and sewing it together? then using the patch to make it look better inside and also keep it from leaking?
