Default Track events

Hey folks I'm so anxious to get on the track prior to Gridlife, so I've searched Blackhawk farms, Chicago SCCA , Gingerman and GPS track time none of the dates are going to work for me.

Are there any other tracks within a 4 hour drive from Chicago I could check?

Ideally I would like to get a feel for the car prior to May 29th, I haven't looked at SOLO events yet, I don't know if that would help out with the real track feel.

Check here and see if any of the dates work for you at Milwaukee Mile.

Tracks within 4 hours of Chicago:
Autobahn Country Club (Joliet)
Blackhawk Farms (Beloit)
Gingerman Raceway (South Haven, MI)
Road America (Elkhart Lake, WI)
Grattan (Belding, MI)
Putnam Park (near Indianapolis)

Groups that run at these tracks
National AutoSport Association (NASA) - I HIGHLY recommend
3 Balls Racing
Autointerests
SCCA (check out their "Track Night in America" program)
GPS Track Time
CGI Motorsports
Hooked on Driving
Chin Motorsports

Check the individual tracks and the individual groups websites for schedules.
I'll be running with NASA at Autobahn April 25/26. I've run with almost all the groups listed and NASA has by the best instructors and the most structured program.

Autoxing is a great help for beginners as well. Check out SCCA's "The Learning Curve" intro autox event. Also check out Windy City Miata Club Autox. That will give you the most seat time. Autoxing, while not the same as track, gives you a lot of the same skills. In fact, in a lot of ways, it forces you to focus on those skills more than track adds the added benefit/distraction of speed/danger.
