Here are the problems in California.

Insanely overpriced property.
State Tax is kinda high.
Try paying 11% of the purchase price for car registration on top of 7% sales tax.
Congested roads & freeways even on Sat. & Sun.
Illegal Imigration problems.
Dont even try owning a small buisness. Workers comp law is raping small buisness owners.
Every new house looks exactly the same and is 5 feet from the house next door.

That is part of the reason I moved.

Oh, by the way hello Brian, I'm Shawn. I moved here in June of last year, so far I like it. It gets a little cold, but its nothing unbearable for more than a few days.

I will never go back to Cali.

almost exactly the same reasons I left the UK.....

VERY Insanely overpriced property - my 2 bed 800sq ft house cost the same as my 4 bed 4000sq ft house here

Every new house looks exactly the same and is 5 feet from the house next door - in most cases in the suburban and urban areas houses are joined at least on one side - semi detached.

Sales Tax - 17.5% - on EVERYTHING

How about having to pay to watch TV? No not cable - but $200 a year for a TV license - without it watching TV is illegal and subject to $2000 fine.

Big Brother is watching - CCTV and speed cameras are EVERYWHERE

Congested roads & freeways even on Sat. & Sun.

Illegal Imigration problems.

State entities are a mess - National Health Service - 1-2year wait for operations
Public transport - slow, dirty and expensive - and unsafe

To name but a few....

Ill never move back to the UK either

Martin here. Aged curmudgeon residing near Detroit. My S is dirty, scarred, dented. But it's also the '02, '03, and '04 CenDiv B Stock series champ. As I work in Farmington, visit Warren tech center, you'll see it around Detroit.
