Default Vandalisim?

On Sunday I left to go to a friends house, haven't driven the S since Thurs get maybe 20 ft down the st and the car hits rev limiter at 3k rpm and throws a CEL. WTF??? so the car won't rev past 3k decide to scan the ECU. Code comes up for a Top Dead Center (tdc2) sensor. Find the sensor at the back of the valve cover and the wires going to it are cut about 1/2" from the end of the plug. Luckily my friend has a replacement harness from his civic's swap and the plug is the same on that so we spliced the replacement plug in. Car runs great once again.

needless to say I am always parked in the garage now. I still can't figure out how they popped the hood.

That is what I was thinking also some type of animal. But then I talked to a friend yesterday who works as a tech for honda and he told me that the 2 pin connector plugs are a common thing to break. He said that he fixes them alot both wires will break right before the connector and it looks like they were cut. I am still unsure it just seems a little weird that both wires will break exactly at the same time.
