Smile Low rev hesitation problems

Hi folks, hope you guys/girls can help me out.

I've asked this question on the UK forum, but not had a great deal of luck tracking down the fault, so I thought I'd throw it open to a wider audience.

Back in March my Lambda sensor died on me. Instead of getting a Honda replacement for

Fix the O2 sensor correctly. Sounds like poor wiring connections. THere is a dielectric grease that you can put on the connections to prevent them from corroding. MSD among others makes the stuff.

I did re check each wires crimp/connection and they all seemed fine, with no play/movement. I'll try to get some electrical grease you mentioned. Ta.

Check your plugs too. I had low idle hesitation due to a defective spark plug. Also did you do the "MAP whack"?

I did try the MAP "whack", and then I replaced it a few days later.

I did check my spark plugs as well, and the gaps were well within service limits. I might replace them anyway. Just somehthing else to cross off the list I guess.

Check out this thread. It's pretty long but details everything that needs to be checked for this problem:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=478799&st=0

Cliff Notes (check list):

- Fill up with fresh gas
- Reset ECU
- Whack MAP
- Check O2 sensors
- Swap coil packs around
- Check/replace sparkplugs
- Check vacuum lines and PVC
- Check battery voltage and ground
- Check/Replace air filter
- Clean injectors
- Clean Throttle body
- Clean IAC
- Adjust valves
- Replace fuel filter

I personally wouldnt hit the map, the only thing whacking it will do is displace the gasket, it could be helping if your gasket is old/worn and leaking. in that case, might as well pick it up for a buck or two.

there's no fuel filter in the S, cleaning the TB/mani/iac is the most noticeable for my stalling too. it went away for good after i use honda's in house engine top cleaner.

one more thing, newer honda do not like universal o2 sensor, code 41 is ultra common and it's a given on bosch plug(for some reason).

after you got rid of the issue, get yourself a catch oil

The map whack has been shown on this board to be a good temporary measure before replacing it or doing the xviper super-glue-zip-tie fix.

There is a fuel filter, its in the gas tank under the fuel pump! It is meant to last the life of the car (depending on the quality of gas in your area).

Since its a pain to get to behind the seats and under the softtop, you should reserve it as a last ditch attempt.

There are many people on the boards that have the "generic" O2 sensor in their car and it works fine. Some with over 10K miles with no code. It will not code if wired correctly. Please research before you post information, it only confuses people more. "after you got rid of the issue. get yourself a catch oil." What the hell does that mean????? And what does it have to do with the OP hesitation problem??
