I see 8 S2000 instructors (not all paid yet) - all of whom I know are very fast. Sign up beginners. Nothing like having an instructor that understands your car (and I'd prefer to instruct an S2000 driver instead of a Miata )

I'm more than happy to help you out Andy, assuming I have time. Like last year, I'll be available for anyone that wants my help. My priorities though are as follows:
1) my assigned student
2) my assigned student
3) my assigned student
4) other S2000 beginners
5) my own track time
6) other S2000 non-beginners
7) anyone else

FWIW, my own track time isn't that important to me. I'm not paying a lot to attend the event, so if I miss a session, it's no big deal for me. But if my student wants more passenger-seat time, that still comes first.

Not necessarily directed to you Andy, but I fully support anyone going through beginner group more than once. I did it (with other organizations). It's really the only way to guarantee you get instruction. And instruction is something I always regret not getting more of when I started.

And my beer of choice is Goose Island Bourbon county stout.

I want to join in on this so bad. I've never raced on a track before, I'm actually a little nervous. My funds are short this year, but I do plan on attending next year. I'll be sure to have newer tires, brakes, etc. If you guys can recommend anything for me, it'd be greatly appreciated.

You should definitely try to sign up for this. There are plenty of other organizations you can run with too, but WMHM is usually the cheapest and the most fun. But I understand funds being short. Just don't think you need anything beyond a safe stock car to get out on track. Good tires and brakes are nice to have's, but the S2000 is one of the most capable stock cars ever made. Having a modified car hurts more than it helps beginners IMO.

Also, consider autocrossing as well. It's a bit more cost effective and (depending who you ask) about as much fun (some say more, some say less).

And it's good to be a bit nervous. As an instructor, I'd be nervous if my student wasn't

Thanks for the quick response. I'm glad there is a Beginner class, and the fact that I would get an instructor for the whole weekend makes me a lot more safe. I'm definitely going to make it out next year. As of this year, I have a couple other things I need to take care of first. I appreciate all the tips, thank you sir

You can always come along and spectate. If there's an open seat in any of our cars we're more than willing to drive you around track to help you get somewhat of a feel for it. Remember it's free to spectate, all you need to bring is a snell rated (SA2005 or newer) helmet...and dramamine if you get motion sickness. don't want you throwing up in my ride

edit: also as a side note, Wangfest on May 28th is a good event to go to for track noobs. The organizer of this event is encouraging people to come out for ride alongs. http://wangfest.blogspot.com/

I'm instructing this event also.

This thread needs more pictures of Brian planking things.

I won't be able to pay until I start working (assuming I land a job), so I'm still not able to confirm my on-track attendance. Regardless, I definitely plan to be present for the weekend even if it's just to hang out with you guys, and as such I will probably be able to bring someone along if they're interested.

I do plan to come along and spectate, as I was talking to Garrison earlier about possibly hitching a ride with him. Or if anyone else wouldn't mind, I'd be more than willing to throw down for gas and food.

Aside from that, where would I be able to find one of these helmets for cheap? I'd only be using it this season to ride along, and would plan on getting something decent for next season.
