Thumbs up Clutch Replacement in SLC Area Updated

As the title suggests, I want to replace my clutch because it started making some noise.

Does anyone know of a good shop or person (with previous S2000 clutch replacement experience) that can do the install?

I ordered a S.O.S sport clutch, clutch release & pilot bearing, and a light weight flywheel.

I just need someone to put it in. Parts come in this week. I'd like it to be installed next week after Tues. 8/24.

Thanks,

John

In for the info as I suspect I will be needing a new clutch at some point.

Well, I called around and it seems $600 - $700 is the going rate for the labor of the install. The hardest part was finding a shop that would install the aftermarket parts. All of the "Mom & Pop" places (which I like to use instead of dealerships) wouldn't do it unless it was their parts.

So, it looks like I'll be going to Ken Garff. They quoted $660 for the install and didn't mind that it was aftermarket parts.

I'll let everyone know how it goes and my impressions of the SOS clutch/flywheel combo. It's scheduled for next week.

Have you considered trying the installation yourself? I hate installing clutches from underneath cars but it's an educational process and good to know.

I did this in my RX-7 and hated it. Then, I did it once with the motor out of the car and it was cake! Whee!

Yeah, I considered it but I don't have as much space as I used to.

I usually do all of my own work. I used to have a '88 CRX HF that I bought simply to learn about repairing cars. I did an LS/VTEC swap (which I built myself). That was years ago.

On the S2000 I've done everything myself and I guess I feel like taking a break from constantly working on it.

Hopefully, these guys know what they're doing.

PM me and let me know when you're doing it. I can bring beer and/or soda and crack jokes while you guys do all the work.

I've got air tools...

It was a good learning experience for me. I'll bet my_slow_s2k could have finished in 3 if I wasn't there haha. I'm always willing to give a hand at it though. So let me know when you will be doing it. I'm curious to see the sos clutch package as well.
