Default Final drive

Im thinking about getting a new final drive for my s2000. I was thinking about either the 4.44 or 4.77. How many people here has either one of those and has tracked it at miller motor sport park.

Looking at the track layout, im leaning more towards the 4.77 FD. Any input would be highly appreciated.

On my s2k I have the stock gear in and spent most of the time on mmp in 3rd and 4th gear. While in 3rd you will drop just below vtec on many of the sharper turns in my experience. If it was me, I would go with the 4.44 so the gears that I was selecting on track would be similar, but I would be staying up in or near vtec a little better. I haven't ever driven 4.77 on track though so it may do fine as well. I have only driven cars with aftermarket final drives on the street. So hopefully someone with more track experience can weigh in.

Most places i read, they said a dedicated track car would benefit more from 4.77. But they also said that 4.77 is only good on a course with super sharp turns. Maybe 4.77 might be over killing it for me, but they make 4.77 sound like it would be a blast to drive. I also heard that a ap2 with 4.44 is like a ap1 with 4.77.

I have a ap1 so it would be nice to hear from someone with a ap1 that has had both gear sets. Also if anyone is selling either one in good condition, I wouldnt mind taking it off there hand.

Ian thanks for the reply, I hope to meet you and other s2000 fellows on the track.

For sure man. I try to make it out tithe track as much as I can. Having a 5 month old kind of makes it hard though these days. Good luck.
