i have an '00 s2k w/ jsut under 30k. i have owned it for about 6 months now and am getting ready to do the 30k maintenance this weekend. i would also like to do a valve adjustment, and have the retainers inspected. flexer from the forum has offered to help me out on the adjustment (he's nice to offer!). but since it is relatively cheap to have it done at the dealer, would it be better to have it inspected there?

any opinions? any "pros" out there who would be better to go to than the dealer even?

Personally, I don't trust most dealers, HOWEVER, if you know of a specific mechanic you trust at a particular dealer, maybe he'll let you sit in and watch the first valve inspection. That way you might feel more comfortable with it in the the future. Might be money well spent...
