Default Alarm System

I'm thinking about getting an alarm system for the car. Does anyone have an alarm installed on their S? Is it necessary? What brand, features, how much and where did you did you get it installed?

I got a Compustar with the 2 way paging remote.
The usual add-ons like proximity sensor, shock sensor, door locks, tunk lock, and remote start.
I could add power window up or down, or some other function if I wanted it.

I had my alarm installed by my buddy Perry who use to work at Sound Works.

Standard install with alarm will be around $500, but with our factory immobilizer, it will be a tad bit more.
Poximety sensor was also an add-on.

The alarm I have retails for around $300.
Might be less now.
Labour is about $200 but that includes the basic install, power door locks, trunk, hood pin, and parking lights.

I don't think it is necessary. Just don't leave any valuables in the oblivious places you should be fine!

This all depends on who you ask. I've had my window smashed on my old car just so some crack head can rummage for loose change when it was parked right out front of the Floata restaurant n Chinatown.

Plus with the soft top / convertable down, it is nice to have a proximity sensor.

And remote start is a nice feature in today's cold weather.

The auto-start wasn't included in the basic install? You need to leave it in neutral and do the "procedure" when exiting before it will work right? I agree that the proximity is a nice feature to have, how much more was it?
