The proximity sensor itself will range in price. I think it was around $50.
For our cars, auto start needs a module to by-pass our factory immobilizer. That was an expensive add-on.

If I wanted window rollup/down or softtop open/close, then I needed another add-on module.

Keep in mind, mine was the high end Compustar alarm. I know they have a lower model with less range on the 2 way pager. I can remote start my car from my apartment when my car is in the underground parkade, 7-8 concrete floors away.

You do not want to leave the car in gear and try to auto-start.
Mine is set up to attempt to start 3 times before it gives up, and 2000 rpm is the cut off so the alarm knows the car is running. Can you imagine what happens when the motor is turning at 1000-1500 rpm's with the car in gear?

I do not have to do anything to get it to auto start. Just hit the auto-start button and that's it.

Compustar Pro here as well... interior/exterior proximity sensor, 3 individual shock sensors, remote start with keyless bypass module, hood pin, trunk pin, trunk release, dome light supervision, battery backup, interior and exterior sirens, the list goes on (I did the install, would have been a $1000+ job otherwise)

IMO you can never be too protected, however, ALWAYS use a club despite how advanced your alarm may be

You spend however many thousands of dollars on your car... you need to spend a reasonable amount to keep it your car, and not some crack heads joy ride

I have the compustar with starter.. the canadian version has longer range for paging than the US version. Something to do with FCC regulated frequency.

The proximity sensor is a waste because it always falses when it rains hard so I just turn it off on the remote. It also falses to much when its set too sensitive and when you tune it down, then what's the point. Just roll up the windows when your top is down. Thieves would open your door anyways or trigger the shock sensor..
Just my opinion.
