Hey guys,

I just started autoX about a month ago or so. Gone to 2 events so far. (sadly the season is pretty much over)

I want to get some new tires on my car so i can be more competitive.

So im wondering what size wheels and tires can i get and stay in stock class?

Im planning to buy a set of Kumho XS and Enkei rpf1 rims. Next year when the season starts up. (ill probably move on to r-comps later on when i get more experience)

To play in stock class, the wheels have to the the same size (diameter and width), and the offset within 6mm of stock.

The only options I know of that meet this criteria for an AP2 are the OZ Alleggerita (just make sure you select the correct size):

And for the fronts only, the Kosei K1-TS (just make sure you select the correct size and offset):

The lightest (and cheapest) solution is the Kosei Front wheels with the OZ rear wheels. This is the setup that Owen was using on his yellow S2000 on Sunday.

Tire sizes are unrestricted, as long as they fit on the stock wheel.

It is probably a good idea to learn how to autox first on street tires, then make the jump to R-compounds later. R-compounds will just mask your mistakes, and won't last too long

Keep in mind that if you want to qualify as a novice for next year's NCT, you can only do 1 more event before January 1st.

it seems i can fit bigger tires on teh stock wheels then i expected.

im currently thinking of not getting new rims, instead im going to spend the money on a sway bar and going maybe 255 all around.

what are you running right now?

If you do go for a swaybar, spend the money and either get the 1 3/8 customer Gendron bar or the 1.44 inch ARE bar with the dual adjustable blades.

Mavm86 and OK2000 has the first bar, and I have the second one.

For street tires, 255/40/17 might be too much pinch. Your stock rims in the front is only 7 inches wide. At most, I would go 235/40/17.
R-comps like the Hoosiers have really stiff and tall sidewalls so you can get away with a 275/40/17 front but turn in will be a bit sloppy compared to a 245/45/17.

ah so it will be rather hard to put 255 on 17x7 wheels afterall haha.
235/45/17 and 255/40/17 is prob what i'll go for, for street tires that is.
(for the front should i get 235/40/17 or 235/45/17?)

i guess i should start looking for deals on sway bars, they dont come very cheap.

I'm running 225/255 on the street. It works pretty well, the 225s don't pinch much at all on the 17x7s.

If you decide to go 235, you'll want to go to a 235/40, to keep the outside diameter closer to that of stock.

Just watch out though. A 235/45 front might be too tall and you might rub the fender liners/clip. A 235/45/17 is definately a better choice. If you do go with that tire, run a 245/40 rear. The 255/40 is slightly taller and will give your car more rake (higher in the rear, lower in the front) which will affect the way your car handles.
