Buying tires

Okay. I found out something...Washington now has a 9.5 % sales tax, so buying the tires in the state won't save as much, BUT...
Buy the tires from tirerack online, they ship from Nevada and then have them shipped to an installer in Washington, no sales tax.
I'm planning on doing this on the Remembrance Day weekend...I'll let ppl know how it turns out.

Yes, there is a Washington sales tax on tires you buy from places like Discount Tire Direct.
TR does not as the tires are shipped from Nevada or Ohio.

Why not go for a set of 16 inch snow tires and put them on stock 16 rims?

Ok last question, is it advisable to run 215/45/17 and 225/45/17 tires for winter? The narrower rear is supposed to be better for snow but will it greatly affect handling?
