Sounds like a fun drive. I'll meet you guys as you cruise through Coquitlam, or just meet in Abbottsford.

The 30 km stretch of road east of Spences Bridge to Merritt is superb. It might be just a bit too far out of the way to do in the proposed loop in a day though.

Also coming out of Coquitlam, would prefer to meet along the way.

Tim, maybe we can meet up with them in Abby or Hope? Hwy 1 is quite straight and long until hope, might run into them on the way.

If you leave at 7, Island people will have to be there the day before..., Please keep that in mind.

What time does the first ferry land? Its a lot of driving as early as possible would be best.

It's at least 9 hours from the lower mainland, if you allow for reasonable lunch/fuel stops along the way.

For example:
- After breakfast, start the loop on Hwy 17/Hwy 1, stop in Hope for those who would like to gas up.
- A brief stop to catch our breath where we leave Hwy 1 at Lytton, before crossing the river.
- Stop for a lunch break in Lillooet. Might not need gas.
- Brief stop at the Duffy Lake viewpoint to catch our breath and gawk at the scenery.
- Stop in Pemberton or Whistler for gas and a short break.
- Back down 99 to end the loop in Vancouver. Folks from the Island could break off at Horseshoe.

A word of caution ... between Lytton and Lillooet, Hwy 12 briefly narrows to one lane, with no way to know if anyone is coming the other way. Could be "interesting".
Google: Looking north where Hwy 12 narrows to a single lane

^Great suggestions Chuck!

To make the drive more manageable, I think it might be a good idea to break-up a large group into two or three smaller groups and have set meeting points.

9th or 16th is ok with me. It would be nice if friends south of the border could join in
