Default Hit and run

Nothing worse than having your s2000 parked on the street only to come to it later to find that someone had smacked into her without leaving a "sorry im a real bad driver" note, with their contact number. It was one of those days that as my weekend driver only, i dont drive it out to work, but given the day that i woke up later and missed my train....i drive in to work, and of all the days i get a hit and run. SIGH! It was meter parked and i was the last car of the street, I left a 2 foot distance from the meter separating the spots thinking just incase someone needed the extra room to park in/out. Even then ... sigh...

I had a real nice guy come up to me and tell me that he saw the whole thing happen, told the driver that she should leave her contact number but the driver took off.

He tried his best to remember the license plate number but of couldnt. He gave me the numbers 29X 492 from the best effort (which didnt checkout with icbc).

It was a metallic brown Landrover with Orange brown interior. If anyone sees this car, snap a pic and send me a license plate number, maybe we can find her! Thanks!

That really sucks ... worse than if it was an ordinary DD car.

It's why I installed a shock-sensitive, motion-detecting dashcam in both of my cars. It keeps running when you park, and records any unusual events. A little voltage-monitoring accessory shuts it off only if your battery voltage goes below a set value.

Well worth the 250 bucks it cost. (In my case, it's a Lukas Blackbox 7300 with a very small camera head, a separate hidden recording controller and GPS.) Installing it is a pain getting at the S2K's wiring but it's worth the effort. Video quality is outstanding, so reading license plate numbers is easy.

Best of luck tracking down the culprit.
