Hit a skunk..
so all advice i've read on the internet has said it'll take weeks to get rid of the smell but i've managed to get rid of i'd say about 85% in 2 days. here's a little recap of what i did just in case anyone is interested or comes searching for it later (but hopefully nobody ever has to go through this)
1. Remove skunk from bumper (duh)
2. Do the initial spray down of the car. dump hot soapy water on it then spray some more.
3. When dry, time to start searching for all the green smelly goop! your nose is unfortunately the best tool to do this.
4. In my situation, the bumper had to be removed as all the green smelly goop (as in the 2nd pic in this thread) was covering the inside of the bumper, all over the rebar and splash guard.

5. I used Engine Degreaser and applied it very liberally to all areas in the front end that needed it. Let it sit 15 min, rinsed it off and repeated that 3 times.
6. Also degreased the engine because the smell baked in there pretty good
7. I checked the cabin filter and it was filthy, so the dirt caught most of the smell. So i cleaned it off and sprayed it with febreeze and blasted the vents.
8. Now for the interior! I unbolted the seats and covered all carpet in baking soda, let it sit for awhile, vaccumed it up then shampoo'd the carpets.
9. Cleaned the seats and centre console with regular leather cleaner
10. Sprayed more febreeze and let some smell absorbers sit in the cabin and trunk
and now i'm hoping a few more days for the smell to completely go away
