Introduction and First Inquiry
Hi all S2Ki members of Vancouver,
Prior to creating my account on here, I've been a lurker on this site for quite some time ever since I started my hunt for an S2000; unfortunately it has been taking longer than I would like as I intend to find one that fulfills all my requirements and specifications. As a brief introduction, I used to drive a 1993 Honda Civic coupe with a JDM B18C (GSR) motor (my user name reflects paying respect to my first car), it was a fun commuter car and I learned a lot from it (i.e. mechanically and driving ability) but it is time for a newer generation car, so I sold it, quite quickly, last month. I will be graduating from UBC this May, 2011 and because I landed myself a great well-rounded job even before I graduate, I simply deserve a "new" car.
I have thought this through a lot and, ultimately, I prefer to purchase a local car (i.e. B.C. registered) instead of outsourcing it from the States for reasons which I will not disclose since I already have an obnoxious tendency to type out essay-long posts to begin with. The inquiry I have is regarding the vehicles currently in stock at The Honda Way dealership in Abbotsford. I will be personally going down there to find out more information but since I will not be doing that until I've completed all my final exams, I thought I would ask members here if they have any existing knowledge or experience with this dealership and their inventory. Here is the link to their used vehicles section: http://www.hondaway.com/en/usedcars/listing/index.spy
According to their website, they have 15 S2000s currently in their lot, all of which have ridiculously low mileage. Does anyone have insight on whether this dealership or dealerships in general are outsourcing these cars from the States or are they all local? I can't help but feel a little skeptical that all their cars have such low kilometers. Though still overpriced in my opinion, mind you, their price certainly reflects this. The following link is the vehicle I am interested in: http://www.hondaway.com/en/usedcars/...spy?id=3794511
Also, I noticed that this particular Honda dealership has been posting their S2000s on Craigslist which I find quite informal and unprofessional (though I hear that this is quite common now for dealerships). Though completely idiosyncratic and perhaps asshole-ish of me, another reason why I am a skeptic is because of the way they advertised on Craigslist (i.e. pictures of a completely douche-y looking sales representative plastered on their ads).
Lastly, I have absolutely no experience with dealerships as I have always driven old POS cars and because eHow.com does a poor write-up job on dealership bargaining tips, I wanted to ask: typically, how flexible are dealerships with their prices on used cars, such as the 2003 S2000 I am looking at? I realize this question is extremely hard to answer without information on the many internal and external factors of dealership operations so personal experience and anecdotes will do.
To everyone who read my whole post and provides advice, I greatly appreciate your time, effort, and consideration. Thank you!
Many thanks,
Arthur

Arthur first off welcome. From what I have seen Honda Way is a bit expensive but Im sure with negotiation a deal can be had. Also not so sure that all s2k's on the lot are Canadian cars. If you are going down there though ask for Sokha as he sponsors the poker run, and summer show and shine and generally supports the s2k community. Hope that helps. I would be more than willing to send Sokha an email letting him know your comming and to pass on you requirments/questions.

Seeing how you didn't address any of my questions, I'll do you a deed and answer yours. In a nutshell, because I can afford it and want to avoid the headache of outsourcing from the states; I was simply inquiring about the flexibility of dealership depreciated MSRP. Thank you for your suggestion though!

why don't you man up and pick one up from the states?
its easy, saves money and a lot larger market.
