Introduction and First Inquiry
Yes, that is the exact advertisement I was referring to. I've been notified that he sponsors some of the events for s2ki and I am glad to hear that some of you guys know him. Personally, I've never seen someone market themselves in such respect, especially for a large and reputable corporation such as Honda.

why don't you man up and pick one up from the states?
its easy, saves money and a lot larger market.

We're digressing too much. Let's not focus too much on my subjective interpretation on their marketing strategy. I did have some reasonable inquiries regarding their dealership in Abbotsford. I do appreciate your point of view though so thank you for that.
so, you don't want to save money and have access to hundreds of more cars? i didnt address your questions, because you basically already answered your own ones. you don't like their ads because you think they are "douchy" and you think they are over priced. what more is there to answer?
Now, given the say 50 (is that accurate? since there being 15 at the Honda Way alone) S2000's for sale in BC, I will assume that there is approximately about 450 for sale in total in Canada (just an a arbitrary number assuming that not all provinces/territories will have as many as BC for sale). There was a total of 2,585 net sold in Canada from 2000 till 2010 (also from Wiki), and again with assuming 10% crashed, that will give us a total of 2,326 sitting around currently. That means that there is currently 19.3% for sale right now.
Transferring that sale rate to the US statistics, we can assume that there is 11,558 S2000's for sale down south currently.
Although these numbers may be very generous, I propose that you would be justified in changing your statement "have access to hundreds of more cars" to "have access to THOUSANDS of more cars"

and do not worry good sir, i do not bleive you were being rude, simply informative.
Welcome and congrats!
First, I'd like to say that Sokha is a great guy and I've heard nothing but good things about him. He used to own an S2000 as well, and to my knowledge, he knows a great depth about them. Most of the cars at Honda Way are US cars, I can almost be sure because of the high amount of inventory they've been getting the past year or so. Your definitely gonna be looking to pay a premium buying from a dealership, but there's an advantage to that as well. If you have the money and just wants a clean car without worrying so much, then I would definitely go ahead and start looking at Honda Way. Considering that your finishing up your final exams soon, I personally, would take the time to do a bit of research on importing one, or even looking for one locally. The mark ups in dealerships are pretty ridiculous in my opinion, and that is highly because of the difference in MSRP of the US and the Canadian models(34k vs 54k). Again, doing a bit of research will definitely save you some cash, so it really depends on the time you have after your exams are done. It'd be nice to know why your not looking to get a US car, doesn't matter if you type a whole page, we have a good group here thats usually always willing to lend a hand.
Anyways, give us a little more detail on what your looking for in terms of colour, AP1 (00-03 or AP2 (04-XX), budget, etc...
EDIT: Sorry I didn't read any of the other post...If you have the money, then buy it from the dealership. Honda Way is a great start, a family member picked up an 03 AP1 from there and so far so good! You can also check out the one at Vancouver Honda (Marine Dr).
Jordan (Chow-Bot) asked why you didn't want to picked one up from the states, simply cause most of us have US cars. It DOES give you access to thousands to more cars, and he probably asked because it wouldn't be smart, financially, to buy locally. Yeah, maybe he didn't answer the question you wanted, but coming off rude is probably not a good idea either when your still new to the forums.

Sokha is on this forum. His forum name is
MR2S2K
On the rep system, I will stand up and say I was one of those people that complained about the rep system. My argument being that someone can simply either neg or pos rep you with total anonymity as well as without reason. My complaint was exactly this:
1) If you are going to neg or pos rep someone you should at least state why. The poster should have the ability to explain or revise their post base on a neg or pos "comment". This type of system can and was being abused. I am referring to S2Ki in all not any one particular forum but the owners have recognized a problem with the rep system and they are reviewing it purpose and usage. To simply hit neg or pos a number of times to one persons comments is not what the system was implemented to do. It it this point an nothing else that I brought forward to HondaGal. While the system is in place I have to live with it but wanted to go on record that I didn't necessarily like the way it was implemented. I still stand behind that. I agree that everyone should be able to "comment" or "rep" someones comments, I just think that doing it anonymously and possibly without reason isn't right, and can create the perception of abuse.
2) The system of "rep" does have one good purpose that being for transactions that occur on the site. I think that money being transacted or any transactions that happen in a For Sale thread are legitimate and are a good use of the 'rep' system. However even with that I would prefer to see "comments" having to be supplied when rep'ing someone.
Now I know I'm going to get some neg reps on this posting but I wanted it all out in the open my feelings about the system and to address any comments that any of this was behind the scene. I made my comments as above known to the owners of this site because I felt strongly about it. If we can continue to 'rep' people based on a comment and anonymously, then people will stop making personal comments. That isn't what we want is it?
Anyway I don't want to post steal and I addressed this issue here because this is where it showed up. Sorry Arthur for stealing your thread. These are just my feelings about the system and not a reflection on those that use it for whatever purpose. It is available to us so I can't really call it abuse as people are using it as it was implemented.
Sorry again Arthur, and good luck with your purchase. We hope to see you out at some meets.

Chow-bot, my friend, thank you for looking over my numbers. I made sure to include a bibliography on my now edited post for anyone that wishes to do some further research. I also have final exams these next few weeks, and some work for my upcoming album to do, so I will not have the time to look more in depth at more accurate numbers.
I will accent your point here, in that there are in fact many MANY S2000's for sale out there, even though it is a relatively rare car. The prices themselves also have a very large range, from the slightly older ones with a bit more km's racked up (though it's a honda...who cares???) like our friends Kenny_son and matt15 have, to the newer ones, though those are just neutered ap1's essentially.
I do encourage some research into the American market. Despite the "headache" that may result from having to import one, the cash savings can be very attractive and can buy more than enough supply of aspirin.

Smaggs, thank you for the added bibliography it makes fact checking a bit easier. it is much appreciated. you are correct. this car is a honda. take care of it and it will take care of you. doesnt matter the km's. Where did you come up with this neutered ap1 talk? that is rather interesting and a whole nother can of worms i wish not to open.
Welcome and congrats!

Thank you for your comment. To keep this brief, I have been searching back and forth for cars in the States and locally so I haven't been neglecting or been naive to our neighboring market. Perhaps my searching skills aren't as advanced as many of you guys but I have been having a hard time finding a 2003 white s2000 with low mileage (though I do understand that the color white is a rarity for the s2000). My biggest deterring factor for importing one from the states is time as my schedule may not permit for it. Also, the short-lived warranty and knowing that the vehicles from the dealership are certified Honda vehicles is psychologically pleasing. I suppose the real question for me is to ponder whether I should approach a local certified Honda vehicle or one privately outside of the country as each has their pros and cons. Also, I apologize if my previous post came off as rude, that was not my intention.
p.s. It is good to know your family member had a good experience with them.
