Default Issues with my engine =(

So at the last UBC Enduro Autocross event my car suddenly has a engine electronics problem. I can start up the engine no problem but after i turn on the engine, the idling does not working properly and it bogs and eventually the engine stalls. The car still runs if i give it gas and once i get it going it doesn't seem too bad as long as i dont slow down too much or stop the car but the car is running really rich.

With the help of some very nice people from UBCSCC, we believe that it is a electrical problem and it could be issues with the MAP sensor but its not 100% certain that replacing the map sensor will fix the problem.

I guess my question is, has anyone experienced similar problems? And does anyone know any places where i might be able to get this fixed around the metrotown area?

any help is greatly appreciated!
thanks!
Les

Did you try swapping map sensor and see if it's fixed?

Speed Syndicate is very close to metrotown. Their licensed mechanic can help you out for sure.

no, i haven't had the chance to try out a different map sensor yet. are they all the same? I think i did hear honda uses the same map sensor for some of their cars.

Thanks for the shop suggestions. I will prob have to try out speed syndicate first simple cause if i go any further ill prob need to tow the car.

Look for Alex or Curtis and let them know I sent you there. They will take care of you.

If you go to SS, tell them you know Jack from Tung Fat. Jack is the guy with the red Mini at the enduro.

people always seem to blame the MAP for misfire problems but i doubt it's the culprit the majority of times. on the other hand, the map is super easy to remove (two screws). if you have a friend that'll allow you to borrow the map from their car, it'll be really easy to confirm whether the map sensor is the problem.

i dont think i can get my hands on a map sensor to try it out =\. Ill probably just bring it to a shop, i dont have any experience with this kind of thing and if its not a electronic problem i might screw things up @@!

ill prob go to Woo's mechanic since he specializes in s2k's =).
