my car feels "slow"

I helped a friend to test drive (and buy) an s2000 today. When test driving the car, I noticed a big difference in the low end power of the car compared to mine. The only power mod this car had was a short ram intake. The engine seemed to be really responsive and explode out of the low end. this made my car seem very sluggish in the low end compared to the s2k I test drove.
I'm pretty familiar with cars in general, and this sounds like a newb question but I gotta ask since I am new to the s2k world. Any suggestions on what could have made such a big difference between my car and my (now) friend's car? My friend's car has a short ram intake, that's it. My car only has a K&N drop-in filter. Could it be something that I need to change, maintenance wise? I was also thinking taht my friend bought a car w/ a final drive, but that would be wishful thinking hehe.

do you VTEC your car often? Because if you don't and he does, then it's just the ECU. To fix this, just VTEC more often and that will make your ECU adapt to a more aggressive setting and the car will be faster in general, although I don't see the need to go so quick on the road in the first place.

so what year s2k is ur friend buying?
I feel my car is sluggish recently. Not sure if it's the crappy cold weather affecting my mood.

our cars are slow in the low end- thats just the way it is
maybe you have gotten used to your car?
maybe you have gotten used to your car?
my car is an '02, and my friend bought an '01.
I'll have to "test drive" his car again to find out, ah-haha. maybe I'll just have to train up the ECU again or something.

I have noticed when looking online that the stats between the 00-01 and the 02-03 have been different that the 00 and 01 always are faster in 0-60 and 0-100 and 1/4mile. ap1 V1 and Ap1 V2's are identical motors but the V1's are lighter and there suspension is stiffer to. Maybe what your feeling is the i believe 50lbs lighter car with an intake(which does add throttle responce greatly) is true maybe it is a "quicker car"
Like someone also suggested is reset your e.c.u and this way it'll relearn the car to your throttle patterns.
From what i've heard and read about the AP1 v1's have thicker sway bars front and rear. There spring setups are reversed as well the stiffer springs in the rear and softer in front where the ap1 v2's are smaller sway bars stiffer springs in the front and softer in the rear. also weight like i said minus the leather consol, tweeters, glass window and so on.
I've driven all generation of the s2000 but the cr and the ap1 v2 seems the most sluggish outta the one with out electronic throttle.
Ap1 V1's were just so set up for being a true sports car that the later models kinda steered away from it.
Just wait till you do just a test pipe your low end will be lost some more i noticed that when i did the intake and test pipe that the top end and the mid range were outstanding but the bottem was like beating a donkey to get going unless you launched it.
hope this makes some sense.
Please anyone that has any more info to jump in and correct me where i may be mistaken.

maybe you should get a second opinion... what does your friend say when he drives your car?
but the short ram intake really increase throttle response and reduces heat bog, but the weather now shouldn't cause heat bog.
if you're really concerned, maybe take your car in for a leak down test and check the spark plugs, change the oil and reset the ECU....

I'm also rocking AP2v1 rims. I'm sure that isn't helping either, hehe.
if anyone has free time, I wouldn't mind meeting up and letting someone to test drive my car. although I will be cutting the insurance on my S soon.
