New softtop installed today
My car has had the typical tear on the passenger's side since I bought it (nearly 3 years ago) and the repair finally gave out a few months ago. I put on a temporary patch last fall and started looking into both soft and hard top options. I decided to go with a soft top again because I don't really have the space for a hard top and love the versatility of the softie.
I ended up calling around town and the prices for the top itself were astronomical (looking at at least $1000 and up). I decided to go online and check out the options and tried out http://www.autotopsdirect.com/2002-2...19-s20-011.htm this one. I got it shipped to the states and it took about 3 days to get from Cali to Point Roberts. Thankfully my buddy offered to pick it up in his Volvo cuz the box does NOT fit in the S2000 unless the top is down and it sticks out past the roof. Quality of the top looks pretty solid and the fitment / window look great on the car. I'll write a review once it's been through the washing machine of our rainy Vancouver weather.
I work close to http://pacificautotrim.ca/ and they said they could do the install in one day for ~$900 after tax. Sure enough, I dropped off the car at 8:30am and picked it up at exactly 5pm. Great service and the install looks nice! They even vaccuumed the car out and made it look all nice before giving it back. Again, I've only had the top for a few hours so I'll write a review once I've actually raised and lowered the top and driven it more.
I had the car outside in the rain for an hour and 30 mins and preliminary stuff looks good. Wasn't leaking or anything and the car looks brand spankin new. The weave of the fabric on the top is a bit finer than OEM and looks really slick. Gonna try and really take care of this one from the get go and hope it lasts me a good long time! If anyone has recommendations on good ways to clean a soft top and maintain it, please let me know. This can be the official soft top thread for us Vancouverites. Next time there's a meet I'll try and make it out so you guys can take a look at the difference.
Cheers,
Steve
