snow tire width
for those who drive in the winter with your S2000, what size snow tires are you guys running?
i'm running 225's in the rear and 205's in the front on AP1 rims, and i find that even in moderate snow, i still slip a lot.
i'm guessing that if my tires were more narrow (195's or lower?) that we'd have better traction, but i'll have to wait until this set of snow tires are done. and can AP1 rims even fit 195's?

i'm running same size as stock ap2 tires.
Dunlop winter sport m3
215/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear
i haven't tried on snow yet, but i guess ill find out this coming weekend.
i'm not sure if ap1 rims will fit 195. sounds too narrow to me.

Wouldn't you be giving up some dry performance by using narrower tires?
i remember a few winters back, when there was about a foot of snow on the ground.. the inside roads weren't cleared yet, and i thought "i can handle this, i have snow tires".. i was so stuck! WITH good snow tires! i can't remember the brand, but they were just too wide...
i barely made it back to my garage after a spin around the block that ended up to be 2 hours long
I am on my 3rd winter on the Hankook Ice Bear W604. 215/60/16's.
Controlled spinning of the drive wheels in the deepest snow last winter had to offer. I was more concerned about highsiding the car than spinning the rear tires.
A few things that will afect how well your car handles the snow.
How new/old the snow tires are. Amount of air in the tires. Alignment. Weight over the rear axle.
Shoot, the first winter i had my car, I drove in the snow on brand new summer only Kumho 711's and I was able to get around, and I was already living up on SFU, not that I would recomend it to anyone.
But most importantly, is the person behind the throttle. Learn how much throttle the car needs/can handle before the tires spin.
